Having Issues with Bestjet - Not Modifying My Tickets

Hi everyone,

I am having issues with Bestjet.com in getting my return flights changed for January 2017.
The problem is:
After we bought the tickets, Etihad changed the flight schedule for the flight from Abu-Dhabi to Sydney (via Jakarta) which reduced the transit time in Jakarta airport to 30 minutes.
Now this is clearly insufficient time to switch flights on Jakarta airport.

I sent an email to Bestjet on the 7th of September and they replied suggesting an alternate flight asking me accept the modification which I did.
Since then I haven't heard anything and no tickets have yet been issued.
I have been sending email reminders and rang them twice as well.
On the first call after 10 days, they said that they are working on it.
On the second call after 20 days, they said they are waiting for a reply from Etihad.

It has been another 7 days after that and now I am getting suspicious that they are not taking it seriously as there is no monetary benefit to them because of the airline fault.

There is plenty of time before we fly (about 2 months) but I don't want to take it to the last minute and stress out the whole family.
I have never dealt with a shonky agent before so what is the best to do in this situation?
Go to Fair Trading, ACCA or is there any other better way of fixing this issue?

    get on that and write a nice and succinct comment about your concern. outline your attempts to contact them. be really nice.

  • I had the same issue, after several attempts to change a flight booked through them they never got back to me. They were totally useless (although in the end, I worked it out so I didn't need to change flights).

    Their website says if it is urgent contact the airline (see: https://bestjet.desk.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1621316…), so maybe try Etihad directly

      I tried Etihad at first but was told that I need to come through the travel agent.
      Will try again and explain them the whole episode.

  • Unfortunate that the schedule has been changed, usually these type of online travel agents should only be used for booking tickets, not for any changes. This is clearly Etihad's fault on changing the schedule and they should be contacted, try to ask for the manager. Otherwise at the airport, you could always run :).
