Heinz Ketchup - Better than any tomato sauce, hands down.

    • Yeah the only type I buy now, tried it and never went back.

    • Have you tried Beerenberg? That's my fave

Also: cookies and cream Connoisseur here I come!

    • +1

I decide based on Sugar content

Any Heinz or Beerenberg (Berenberg?) fans want to tell us in Joule & %'s ;-)

Also, who's added some nice Spices 4 unique Flavour, that might seal the deal?

      /Rant

PS Foodland seems to me to be a "splintered brand"…

      Foodland Drake
      Foodland IGA
      Foodland Marios

      (have I missed any others?

(or similar, perhaps some put their "flavour names" BEFORE Foodland)

So we get 3x the Junk Mail from "Foodland" & - worse -
many oldies get "stung" & end up paying more, eg,
if they confuse Foodland flavours & try to save
based on an offering in ONE flavour, but not the one they've gone to

We find Foodland's PRICEY, maybe because
they have 3x the Overhead (CEO, etc. salaries), ONE / Flavour, of
even our Duopoly - Coles & Woollies

Henly Beach's Foodland (don't ask me which Flavour it is! ;-)
has variety. Being beside the coast, they may have justification
      for HIGH PRICES.

IMO, other SA Foodland's seem to range from "dusty" to just inefficient.

Is it Semaphore, SA that has
      TWO flavours of Foodland shops
within about a block of each other?

(A servo was - for years - almost
the same distance from its "clone"
on David Tce, farther from coast,
but one of these has rently CLOSED
      - for good reason, IMO.

And Servo's can have queuing issues
that Foodlands can more easily avoid.)

Will cheaper ALDI know Coles or Foodland
off the map (at least in SA)…?

      /Rant Off

      • ALDI also competes on variety, albeit within "lower-end" items:

more flavors in "designer" Salmon ($1.30) & Tuna (under $1,
        but I can't recall Tuna prices…we've pivoted to Salmon… ;-)

At ALDI, Terriaki & Garlic SALMON is our new fav. ;-)

(Woolies has very little variety in its house Salmon)

        Ian associate tells me:

        • "CostCo beats ALDI on price of "fresh" Canalloni (~1.3Kg)"

(She's compared the Ingredients & thinks they must com from
the same maker; such ReBranding doesn't have the overhead
of Foodland's "cloning" / TriFurcating. Oh, she says ALDI
        must be getting Rebanded soups from Heinz; same 535g/can;
here, ALDI is ALWAYS $1.89 while Coles & Woolies -much-
higher, except during sales. Buy quick, she says, 'cause
Heinz prices go up from ~$1.70 to 2 for $5, back to ~RRP
        is you're slow.

CampBell's must have learned Calculus; SMALLER cans: ~505g
        I bet those 30g saving add up …for Campbell's)

    • Agreed. Used to like Rosella tomato sauce until it became so watered down. Haven't looked back from Heinz Ketchup.

  • Yay. Connoisseur on half price!!
