Combining all insurance thorugh a broker?

Got to thinking about all the different insurance policies we have. Home, landlord, cars, life, income etc.

Has anyone considered, or tried to work out if it is possible to combine all your insurances by using a broker? I've heard of business people using a broker to get a better deal, but what about private?

We are a low risk, having not made lots of claims over the years. All our policies are set with a high excess for that reason. Would a broker be able to set up something like a combined 'personal insurance' that would cover home, contents, 2 cars etc and be at a total cost less than our current combined insurance? Surely for a low risk it would be worth it.

Thanks in advance.

  • You might be able to wheel and deal with a broker.

Personally I prefer a broker as should any event occur I call my guy up and basically say "this is what's happened, please deal with it". Also you will be dealing with the same person which is a massive + rather than a call centre for claims…

    • Oh and policy wording is different for brokers. Broader than normal…

  • Brokers don't tend to be cheaper but they will get you better products and make sure that you are covered for the risks that might affect you. Also most brokers are slowly getting out of personal insurance because the commissions are falling due to the competition in the market.

    • +1

The reasons why many general insurance broker don't offer life insurance is because they aren't licensed to provide financial advice.

They are sell you one but can't recommend one.

Consolidation will definitely save you money

  • Brokers tailor a solution based on your needs and make the whole thing a whole thing alot easier as it is their job. My financial planning company does all of that for me but i use a mate whos an insurance broker who I have used. PM me if you want his contact to have a chat
