Buying a split system air conditioner. All opinions welcome

I'm buying a split system air conditioner. I'm open to the idea of a contractor just installing or doing the supplying and installing.

Here's the unit I'm looking at.

The reason for picking this one is it's the most powerful unit at the smallest physical size I could find. Also, I think Fuji is a pretty good brand.

The space I want to install it in is 110cms wide (from wall edge to windowsill). The air conditioner is 94 cms wide. Is 16cms clearance room enough to fit? I'm worried I don't have enough clearance room.

Do you recommend any installers? (I live in Perth).

Alternatively, does anyone have experience with Harvey Normal split system installation contractors?

  • get someone to come in and give you a quote. they'll talk you through what is required etc. that will give you a solid idea of the requirements.

  • Should be ok I think. I got my electrician to install an aircon in my bedroom. The indoor unit is installed right up against the wall. All he needed was to anchor the back plate and punch a hole through to the outside to the compressor. Luckily, I have a power point right below the aircon so he wired up the aircon to that. But check with your installer, I don't think it will be a big problem.

    • Thanks. That gives me some confidence.

  • I had 5 installed and used 'service seeking' website. No complaints and great price.

Also, it's worth spending $13 and buying the broadlink blackbean universal remote, it's nice being able to pre heat/cool your house using your phone when you're out and about.

    • How much was it to install each air con?

  • It will be fine mine is up against a wall on one side and windowsill on the other with a few cms clearance, as mentioned earlier they are attached to the wall from the back.

  • I bought this same air con from Bluestar Airconditioning last year.
    http://www.bluestarac.com.au/promotions - installed $2100

Better deal than HN because of the install.

Cost me 2250 installed because it wasn't a straight line back to back. At the time fujitsu also had a cashback of $200.

Edit: Sorry, didn't see you were in Perth
