Anyone used Oneflare or Service Seeking?

So thanks to you guys from before, I am now looking for somebody in Sydney to do waterproofing for my house.

Abit of google later brought me to Oneflare and Service Seeking. Submitted my details and sit back.

Then off to productreviews.com.au and noticed that it is flooded with positive reviews for both sites. But the funny thing is…all the positive reviews were written by a member who joined up that day, with only one review.

http://www.productreview.com.au/p/oneflare.html?rating=5#rev…

http://www.productreview.com.au/p/serviceseeking-com-au.html…

And relatively few negative reviews but with what appears to be more…"real" people with a few more reviews under their belt.

Am I paranoid or are those positive review fake?

Does anyone have anyone they have used that was good for waterproofing? Help me you guys!!

  • Am I paranoid or are those positive review fake?

You appear to be grossly misinformed about the internet. Every site where anybody can post something is spammed to death by fake reviews. You should just assume reviews are fake on these sites.

    • OMG my whole life has been a lie??

    • Welcome, to the real world Neo……….

You should just disregard productreview.com.au. Not only is it distorted by astroturfing, but also generally people who are satisfied don't come back to leave comments, and people who are dissatisfied leave negative reviews.

Use service seeking to get quotes and evaluate them by other means, e.g. look at their background, ask questions, ask for references. I got a couple of jobs contracted out via ss, but those were small ones, < $1000.

    • Ahhhh I learnt a new word today! Astroturfing…

Have used OneFlare about 3 to 4 times.

    Pros
    Process is straightforward
    Licensed tradies
Relatively competitive (can use quotes as references to get an understanding what the cost of a task will be)

    Cons
Fleeced once where the guy bid on the task for 100 AUD and then tried quoting me 220 AUD when he arrived
Quotes vary wildly at times (no guarantee of something relatively straightforward)
Feedback system from OneFlare management is poor (no contact back after a complaint, etc)

Just get as many quotes as you can and always ask for references

If you live in an apartment - Strata may have a list of trades that can do waterproofing - so it may be helpful to contact them to get a quote.

    • Thanks thats helpful. Nah I live in a house (moved out from the apartment). Part of me wishes I still paid strata levies…arrrgghhhhhh
