iPrimus Plan Increase

Looks like Iprimus are increasing their costs. Not sure why! It's kind of annoying that they can back out of a 24 month contract whenever they like, or in this case increase prices. Did anyone else get this email? Not sure if it's just because i'm in what's classed as "regional" … 25 minutes from CBD.

At iPrimus, we're committed to providing our customers with competitive internet plans.

We recently found we have been incorrectly charging you for your iPrimus DSL and Home Phone Bundle. As a result, your monthly plan cost is increasing to reflect the service we deliver to your premises.

We understand a rate increase is never good news, however we will not be back billing you for previous months when the incorrect plan fee was charged.

Due to this variation in your plan fee, you have the right to exit out of your existing contract with no termination fee.

These changes will take effect on 11th November 2016, see the table below for further details.
iPrimus Bundle Special 15
Your current plan fee $69.90 monthly
Plan increase $20.00
Your new plan fee $89.90 monthly
We're providing you with at least 30 days' notice to allow you time to review your new plan details. These changes will happen automatically, you don't need to do anything.

You'll need to check the terms of the contract you signed up to. If they are changing the terms, you are able to break the contract. If they haven't been charging you the correct amount they should have, then you're unable to break the contract without fees.

Looks like op is free to move

  • Hi escimojoe,

Yes, I feel for you as any increase in fees/bills is unwelcoming. However, if I read it correctly, iPrimus are rectifying their error and probably you have been charged less than contracted fees and may not to everyone else.

I would recommend you reviewing your contract papers/emails when you signed up. If you dont have copy handy, may be you can request one from iPrimus and go from there.

    All the best,
    b_sean.

It was definitely an advertised offer. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/199404

Basically they are lying. You don't advertise an offer on your website for months, then a year and three months later realise you've been "incorrectly charging" customers. Pretty poor on their part.

ok, if thats the case then its poor on their part. These days the prices should be atleast same (or thereabouts) with more allowance e.g. data/call etc if not southward…

  • You are free to back out without termination as they are changing conditions, look around for better deals if you think you're paying too much.

  • I received the same email. I am also in a regional area. My issue is that they have worded it as a pricing error. This is not the case! I signed with the deal and its on the original contract.

Have you called or contacted them yet? I am working my angles at the moment.

Haven't called anyone yet. I went with them because they were the cheapest at the time. Still are I think?

It's definitely not a pricing error it's them trying to get out of the contract.

I agree. I am going to do a bit of research. Also I will call and complain. We will see what happens.

Okay…. This is all I have found on a regional plan:

Spintel offers $79.95 for 500 gig with $25credit or a free modem (this a 2 year contract). Might be something to think about.

Any other offers let me know!

    • I'm classed as Regional. Anyways iiNet is $89.99/month. Unlimited Data, free calls to standard, national and mobile. Might be an option for some. Still trying to find cheaper.

  • Just received my notice that I have changed plans, I didn't receive the original notice so got them to refund the additional charges that had taken place so far but now my question is anyone have a better deal?

  • I only need 100GB/mth. Another option could be internode 100GB(no peak/off-peak), $69.95/mth (Get a $50 credit when you sign up online to an Easy Reach ADSL2+ plan for 24 months), but internode doesn't offer free calls to landlines and mobiles.

    • Even with the price increase its still on par. Iinet offer the same deal for 89.99 with unlimited downloads and local national mobile. But 300gb with Iprimus is enough for me anyways so I haven't bothered to switch.

  • I don't really care about calls very much, we both predominately use our mobiles for call's so my needs might be slightly different. Telstra said they were $70/pm for 100GB that's about all I have looked into at the moment.

    • that has happened to me too! You don't have to pay exit fees but it is still a pain to have to compare deals again and go through the whole process!! Once you sign a deal for a certain amount they shouldn't be allowed to change it!!
