Coleman CSP70 (CPX6 Battery Compatable or 4x D) Spotlight $25 (RRP $75) Big W, South Yarra VIC

30

Edit: Still available today, expiry extended.

Hi bargain hunters, I just bought this torch from Big W South Yarra. I can't comment on the product yet, but the online reviews were positive.

I'm unsure of the finish date so I've entered today. The store is open until 9. No mention of it on the website.

Photo shows two original prices, $75 was on the shelf (not on the discount tag).

If anyone knows a good deal on the CPX6 battery and charger, please let me know :)

This looks to be it however it's apparently 'unavailable' so I'd say they're clearing them out in-store: https://www.bigw.com.au/product/coleman-cpx-6-csp70-spotligh…

Meh. Huge, awkward, and not especially bright.

Do yourself a favour, and get a torch that runs off a pair of rechargable li-ion cells.
A single XM-L will do around the same 700 lumens.

You can find it on eBay for less than $25.

The Nitecore EA81 runs on eight AA batteries (Eneloops!), has 2150 lumens, runs for nearly two hours, has a range of almost 500m and weighs in at 282grams whilst fitting in your pocket.

Sure it costs around $100 when on special but there are similar torches for half the money.

This is old technology they have thrown a cheap led into. Inefficient on all fronts.

  • Coleman has stopped making the CPX6 gear as it's too expensive so nobody wants it. I've seen many CPX6 items on clearance over the past few months but even at half price they're not usually a bargain.

Note that if you plan to put D cells into it, you need to buy their proprietary D cell adaptor which aren't even available in Australia - I saw one on Amazon a couple of months ago for something ridiculous like USD $15-20 (+ shipping).

    • This one does come with the D adapter. And going by the dismal CXP6 power pack reviews all over the Internet, I will just be using some rechargeable D's.

Agreed this thing is way overpriced… but at $25 my inner cheaparse took over :D
