Is There a Thing to Add a Mic and Audio Controls to Headphones?

Hi there. Just wondering is there a thing that you could plug into a regular set of headphones so you can use them as hands free on your phone to call and also skip music?

I have an Oppo Mirror 5s android phone and some somewhat decent Sony headphones. I'd like to be able to continue using my headphones but as the ability to take calls using them and skip songs. Now before I try soldering the mic and controls off another pair of earbuds onto the Sony's most likely ruining 2 good pairs, is there a simple plug in attachment out there for android? I've found iPhone ones but none specifically for android.

Thanks

Edit: Woops, didnt know there was even a referral link in the url, hopefully correct now? :)

Also this is probably better off to use for for wired heaphones… ignore this comment if it isn't what you're after :/

  • Look at the plug on a hands free mic/earphones set and you'll see additional rings on the plug for the extra connections to the mic and button. That's why it's possible to plug normal earphones to listen to music. If such a breakout adaptor existed it would have to bring those extra connections to a button and a mic, and the usual stereo connections to the earphones. It's technically possible but maybe no one has thought to make and market such a thing if the search turns up nothing.

The breakout adaptor may even have to depend on the design of the button control for the phone.
