What are Telstra's "plans" or pricing-- WITHOUT me going through their data mining first?

Hi all,

I'm helping a very old, ex-neighbour (we moved) whose son has cancelled dad's email address after a spat w/dad (the son had been paying). The old guy is 86 & likes to Skype with some family in EU. He does some emails & the occasional Google— that's about it.

I'd like to know what sort of pricing Telstra uses now, but I don't want to give his details lest they start to hound him & he gets suckered into something outrageous (not that Telstra EVER do that…).

He currently has a home line with them. He said he thought it would be good to have internet with them so he would only receive one bill. Neither he nor his wife have or want mobiles. They've both had some major medical issues so I'm looking for "best bang for the buck" given the above details.

They are in Halls Head, WA & still on ADSL. So far, only the old guy's email has been disconnected- not sure if the son is going to be shitty enough to pull the whole shebang, so we're looking sooner than later.

So, does anyone here have any sort of straight-up answer to their rates for ADSL w/home line already in place?

Ta!

Apparently it's hard finding pricing of stuff in the modern era…

      😂

Making a post on ozbargain > googling > asking the merchant

Applies to everything from medical advice, legal advice, faulty items and regular pricing.

          Don't forget financial advice

  • This is something you could ask Telstra or are you looking for an OzBargain exclusive plan?

      something you could ask Telstra

HAHAHAHHAHAHAA… no wait … you didn't just say that.

We get it, you have a disdain towards Telstra. Back in your hole.

The reality is that what they post online has little to do with what you are offered when you ring (data & pricing). I don't want to ring because they will immediately request the man's details. Now do you get it? I didn't think that needed explanation.

Telstra are like the airlines— call for & get a a plan price, wait an hour, call back & get a totally different price.

Is there anyone here, who recently purchased a Telstra plan with home phone & "not over the top" (less-than 200GB) data only?

If so, what are you paying & what has your experience been?

    Ta.

Umm how…? It lists the plan prices… and what's included… and these don't change if you call them

Whatever drugs you're on, can I have some please?

They offer the exact plans with the same prices as listed in the link I posted. Speak to the right person at the right time and you might snag yourself a $10p/m discount. That's it. Thread closed.

It's unfortunate that people comment with no actual, useful input to the questions asked, presumably to build themselves up by attempting to denigrate others…or something?

I just spent over an hour, both on a live chat & then on the phone w/Telstra.

FYI, I was offered different "deals" between them & then neither would tell me if my calculations of initial first month charges (according to what they'd just said) were correct until I provided the name & details of the elderly man — even though I gave them the general location & the fact he has an existing Telstra home line.

I find this deflective & intrusive. Some of you here have attacked me/my query claiming, "it's always the same"— I can guarantee it is not. Hence my query to those who actually know what they're talking about because they have signed to a recent plan.

Nevermind. This site gets more unfriendly & needlessly snarky all of the time. A shame.

What's wrong with giving them the address or whatever they ask for? They're not exactly going to sign him up there and then, and believe it or not but I highly doubt they'll spam you or him with anything.

So how exactly can this forum give you answers that Telstra can't even give you, because you're not giving them everything they ask for?

I suggest you take your tin-foil hat off for a second, and let the salespeople do their thing, instead of throwing up roadblocks at every question and wasting both your time and theirs.

Either you want answers, or you don't, but you can't expect to hold back important info and still expect an answer. It won't happen.
