Amsterdam - Help Me Choose a Hotel

Looking to stay in Amsterdam for a couple of days next year and hoping to find a reasonable deal on a hotel. My budget is around $150/day (not a lot for Amsterdam) so just looking for a basic/clean hotel in a central location.

Any advice, deals?

  • I stayed at easy hotel a few years ago, Its sort of like a budget airline where you pay for extras like wifi and toiletries but its clean and tidy and small. It not too far walk to the main parts and you can catch a tram from the train station.

  • the hotel i stayed in wreaked of weed lol

  • Plenty of nice AirBnBs in Amsterdam for less money than that. Hotels are the same all around the world, peoples homes are not! A much more unique experience.

(Hit for up for a AirBNB referal code if you go this route)

Thanks. I first checked airbnb but at a glance is was very expensive (which is strange)

      • You need to set your price filter low then slowly increase.

If you start @ $150/day it will only show you places around that price, not less. Mainly because AirBNB make a higher percentage profit with the more money you spend.

        • There's nothing at 150 apart from some crappy rooms. Started getting a few hits once i reached the 50 mark. I've used airbnb many times before :)

I stayed at ClinkNoord Hostel - get a private room with ensuite. I think it was $100 with breakfast. Modern and clean rooms
Its just a 5 minute (free) ferry away from central station. Ferry runs every 7 minutes 24 hours a day.

      I second ClinkNoord!!

  • Thanks. I just checked CN and it was $160-ish for my dates. It must be the fact that it's just after easter. Will keep on searching.

Just did some research on this. The Student Hotel Amsterdam City looks like a good option. $276 for 2 nights.

  • I stayed at the dodgiest hostel in Amsterdam back in the day (twice). It had a dingy underground reception area, which doubled as a schmoke room. The showers and beds were disgusting, but unsurprisingly, none of the patrons cared.

  • lol yeah I went to Amsterdam in my 20's and did some stupid shit but I'd like to think I'm a lot more mature these days… remains to be seen. Either way I refuse to pay $$$$ for hotels these days. Only interested in a clean room with a bathroom in a good location. Rather spend my money sightseeing and eating!

    • What's a good location for you? Amsterdam is kind of split for tourists

  • Two years ago I stayed at Holiday Inn in Sloterdijk and it was quiet, clean and very close to public transport. About $155/night. I'd stay there again if I went back to Amsterdam.

Try booking.com. Single room Amsterdam, private bathroom. Crown hotel April 2017, $78 per night

  • maybe do a search for B&B's in Amsterdam. this one came up $300 for 2 nights including breakfast. I just did some dummy dates so not sure of your dates.

  • Or, you could stay outside Amsterdam, somewhere like Haarlem. Cheaper, close to beach, and a short train ride to Amsterdam.
