Dissapearing eBay Deal

This happened before too. Either I lose my mind or I lose deals.

For example I saw an ebay deal yesterday giving 10% off from certain categories but I can't find it today. Assuming it's been removed, when a deal removed can't we get a small information banner where the deal used to be telling us what happened/why it's removed similar to duplicate deals?

10% off $30+ Spend on Home & Garden, Clothing, Smartwatches, Toys + More @ eBay Australia

They were duplicates. They were removed so if you accessed them they would automatically forward you to the original.

  • Thanks. I must have seen and clicked the duplicate one. I searched it all day but couldn't find it by searching ebay, ebay 10% off etc. it's not visible in https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/ebay.com.au either, or I'm going blind.

    • It's right under neath the 'CURRENT COUPON CODES' sign at the top :)

      • not sure why but I can't see it.current coupon codes box only has CGOOD20 in it.

        • Yep my bad, I was thinking of the Good Guys deal… yeah as I said in my comment below, these deal do get usually bumped up on the front page quite often as reminder, however it still may be difficult to notice depending on when you are active… I guess we need a similar system like the domino's page if this is the case? What do you think mod? :)

        • That only shows coupons loaded into our sister coupon site, Couponese. The reason it's not showing is that it was marked expired on Couponese as eBay keeps expiring and unexpiring the deal. I've added it back in so it should show shortly.

        • @neil: Ozbargain search doesn't find the deal either. Search box's drop down recent deals menu can't list it either. Try ebay, ebay 10% off etc.

        • @stuhtb:

We have some basic criteria to sticky deals to the frontpage for a couple of hours at a time. Usually when they become active again or at the start or end of a promotion period. It was last stickied on the 13/10 as the deal had been updated.

        • @Sharp:

Yes, it doesn't seem to be picking it up if you search 10% off ebay. If you add 10% off $30 ebay it works. I'll see if I can figure out why. I have a feeling it may be seeing the % as a search variable.

@neil: Nice, yep it makes sense then :)

        • @neil:

funny when I type "10% off $30" recent deals drop down menu lists TechDeals @ TheGoodGuys only but when I press enter search results find ebay deal after several expired deals.

While I got you Neil can I request the result of the main search box to be defaulted for sorted by time (most recent first). So when people search ebay they dont get ebay deal from 2008 first?

        • @Sharp:

when I press enter search results find ebay deal after several expired deals.

You can click the option Deals (No Expired) to only show you active deals.

can I request the result of the main search box to be defaulted for sorted by time (most recent first).

You can change to Sort by Post Date. If you click Save that will be your default search every time you search.

        • @neil:
          Thanks

  • Yep as neil pointed out above, these deals also do get a refresh on the front page every now and then too I guess? If you miss that, you can still see the current code at the start of the page here when you search eBay Australia

    • I checked that page too but it only shows CGOOD20 as the current code no mention of the 10% off code
