Is Apple Still Exchanging Power Plugs?

Self explanatory forum question, could some one help me out?

  • Heyo, I did an exchange just a week ago with no problems. Did it online, all that was required was your device serial number, then apple id login, and then just a shipping address, and they'll mail out a replacement.
They don't replace the whole power plug adaptor. They just send you a replacement for the usb bit that detaches - not the one with the wall plug, you just use your current one. Also reuse the envelope they send your replacement in to resend them back the faulty one using the included return shipping label.
    Hope that helps !

    • You mean they send back the power plug part of the charger?

      • The apple adaptor has 2 parts. One has the USB slot, and one has the power point prongs.
They replace the USB slot piece only.
They send you a new USB slot piece. You then use this new one with your old power point prongs piece.
And they also suggest/ask/include in the parcel a note saying you can return your faulty USB one back using the same envelope and free return shipping address.
        Hope that helps.

        • Not really sure what you're talking about because there isn't a USB slot on the power adapter, I think you may be talking about a different replacement program.

What they replace and send you is the relatively small part with prongs that plugs into the wall (as you can see on the link posted above) and then you are meant to send your old part back, though I don't think it matters too much if you don't.
Just thought I'd clarify that for the others.

        • @Forenti: Okay, yes you're right, sorry I mixed up the two pieces from my incorrect recollection.
But yes, there are still 2 pieces to the power point as a whole.
This is a generic photo of the 2 pieces that form the power plug. (https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1RhsOMXXXXXaZXVXXq6xXFXXX6/New…)
The left piece is the USB piece I'm referring to. They do not replace this bit. You keep and re-use your old USB part.
The right piece is the prongs piece. They replace this piece, and as the official apple link above, they resend you a new prongs piece.

Apologies for the confusion. But there are still 2 pieces, one with a usb slot, one with the prongs.

        • @exonerate:

They send you a new USB slot piece. You then use this new one with your old power point prongs piece.

The right piece is the prongs piece. They replace this piece

These two statements conflict, they replace your prongs piece only.

        • @fruit: Yeah ignore the first reply above, I corrected the inconsistency with my reply to Forenti so a comparison shouldn't be drawn from those two quotes.
          Prongs get replaced.

  • I just brought 4 of mine into the Apple store today, and they did a 1-for-1 exchange on the spot. No questions asked and no ID or personal info required.

    • Did you bring in the whole power point adaptor (usb part + power prongs part) - and they replaced the whole thing on the spot ?
Or did they just give you one piece (the usb piece) ?

  • Next time consider doing a google search. Its the first link when you google apple wall plug exchange program http://bfy.tw/8Dx2
