It's official, the countdown to Doughnut Time's arrival at the Lower Ground, Shop A06 has begun with the store's grand opening on Wednesday October 26.

  • Damn. Wish this was in Melbourne too cause I missed out on the last giveaway :(

  • Going to be in Sydney during that time. Perfect.

  • +1

2 hrs. Would be heck of a queue

  • +4

    These stores are cancer

  • +3

    They actually taste disgusting.

  • +3

Nothing's special with this donut. Don't know why this is famous. Introduced to me yesterday and I wasn't impressed.

    • +1

They market heavily to brainless millennials through social media channels. That's about it.

    • Same, it was fine but it wasn't spectacular. Maybe it is all in the magic of that green box…

      • +2

yep the magic of the green box! Seems like every second teen walking around CBD is carrying of these

  • I've had their pistachio donut and glazed original at previous giveaways and they were delish! I am not a Nutella fan but will happily try any of the others for free.

  • +3

People that don't usually eat donuts, or haven't had a proper donut might be convinced. But the doughy mess that i sampled really showed they don't actually know how to make the dough for a donut. Soggy dough then filled to the max by whatever filling and over decorated to hide the fact that the donut itself is terrible. And $6 each.

  • Perfect. A years worth of Nutella in one doughnut.

  • +2

Was very unimpressed with these donuts. Short stop is still my go-to donut place in Melbourne.

    • These free donuts are in Sydney. I'm happy to take what I can get, unless you know an airline handing out free flights to melb.

  • Full of sugar

  • please post reviews and live coverage when you are on the queu line…. is the line move fast enough, etc etc

  • +5

About 60 people in the queue as at 10:45. The queue will go up the Pitt St stairs by lunch time. Will be interesting to see how quickly it can clear depending on how quick they hand them out.

10:52: queue is winding back into the galleries at Dangerfield. At the current rate, it could be back into town Hall in about 20 mins. If you're interested, come quick.

Pm me if you're also in the queue for an impromptu ozb meetup.

10:58 and I can no longer see the end of the queue. Glad I got here when I did. Pm if you're an ozb 'friend' that wants to join me instead of joining the back of the queue. We are a community.

Ps Am I the only person over 30 in the queue?

    • haahhaah mate what a OZB champion :)

i think eventually everyone will get one, it will just take some time.

i remember when they had the amex fashion thingy in pitt st mall and they had the free doughnuts but man you really had to push and shove to get one lol, i had to push and shove 2 seperate times to get that free damm doughnut lol

      • Yeah, they'll have enough, it just depends how long you want to wait and if you want time to line up again for seconds ;-)

        • can you say i have to hand so can i have one doughnut each for each hand?

        • @eisniwre: I'll give it a try. Line is moving very slowly. I've moved about 10m to front of glue entry in 15 mins.

        • @newdad: dont worry meeting with scootty is at 1pm still plenty time to stop at wollies to get cheap cashew too if you like

        • @eisniwre:11:20 and the store is now in view. The free burritos at gyg yesterday were much faster. At least with cheap cashews I'll be getting all my food groups.

        • @newdad: ah sorry you should go to wolies first this morning to buy cashew and then eat them while on the queu.. might share with one or two youngsters as well.. good for starting new conversation with them.

    • +1

"Ps Am I the only person over 30 in the queue?" well you must feel lucky then, in the middle of all those young girls :D
feels like sugar daddy yet? ups… doughnuts = sugar

      • Being in my 40s, I could pass as a parent of most of the rest of the queue. That's the great thing about ozb, we welcome everyone.

    • I am over 30 (31 :P ) and was in the queue. When I lined up, I started near the stairwell that is the closest exit to the shop, if that makes sense to you.

  • i wanted to ask a question with a twist; what happens if you get to the front, you have to fill in a survey which takes 5 minutes of your time (thus also why there is a huge queue due to taking some time filling in the survey) - would you still go and wait for the free doughnut? =p

    • +1

When you get to the front of the queue, you choose, they give you one, you walk away. Easy. No surveys.
45 mins of my time @ $100/hour means I just got a $6 donut for $75 wait. Who said bargain hunting has to be rational?

      • Hi newdad, was the line still v long by the time you got your donut? Getting longer/ shorter? Thanks!

        • It was still growing as more people took early lunch breaks. Unless someone still there has an update, I'd recommend getting in as early as possible.

      • +1

sometimes you cant just value bargain hunting by $, mostly it is the THRILL, SATISFACTION and the feeling that you GET it and BEAT others who were slower…
at the end, sometimes you need to pay (by time, by $, etc) to get those above…
