People with Arachnophobia should not click this.

So these kinds of spiders keep appearing on the walls of my bathroom and bedrooms.

Should I be worried?

  • Size reference?

    • from leg to leg, you could probably just fit it through the mouth of a paper cup. I tried to capture it with said paper cup but it got away

  • Check out this Whirlpool thread. They seem to have a lot of links and some knowledgeable users?

Isn't that just called a common house spider a wolf spider think, kind of like a hunstman, I don't believe they are poisonous,
These guys are pretty fast tho ,

This is the best way to deal with them

    • I just watched that and I think I won't be able to sleep tonight. Spider babies.. no thanks.

  • Looks like a Huntsman but the big eyes make it look like a giant version of the cute Jumping Spiders you find around the house. I'd catch it then let it go outside.

    • That might be the closest guess so far. If so I'm glad I didn't kill it as it could be helpful in exterminating vermin like mice.

  • Looks to be an adult Huntsman spider really.

  • If it were one of the truly deadly spiders you wouldn't be here posting, so chances are you don't need to worry.
I used to be (and at heart still are) scared of spiders, but I read about flooding therapy and so one day picked up a huntsman and put it outside. Maybe the spider was as freaked out as me, but nothing bad happened, and I am now fine with shifting them outside or mashing them, as circumstances dictate.

To see what the internet was like in 1996 while getting some quality information about Australian spiders see this site!

I want to look, but I'm scared I might throw my laptop…

  • nerf gun it.

  • Huntsman. Completely normal. Relatively harmless. Mostly they run away, occasionally they will jump at you, very rarely they will bite. The bite is apparently painful but not particularly dangerous. They can get very big too.

The thought of them touching me creeps me out, but otherwise I'm ok with attempting to catch and release outside. Mostly I had it over to my brave wife to deal with them though.

Did you see the YouTube clip of one carrying a mouse across a wall a couple of days ago?

  • Cool you've got a personal mosquito catcher who uses no harsh chemicals.

What are you gonna name him?

  • Straight away thought of this:
