XBOX Live - Which region to sign up

So I already have a MS account and its AUS. By default that's the one I will use to login, (used in my 360). I never got Xbox live before. Grabbing a XBOX One with the Big W deal, is it of any advantage to have an US XBOXLive account?
For PS4 the digital games turn out cheaper and they often get better deals than the AUS stores.

You can access other regions' deals using an AUS account for Xbox.

Source: Have taken advantage of pricing differences in Russian marketplace.

    • In Windows, you just change the Region and your Windows Store refreshes to show that region's pricing (picked up Rise of Tomb Raider from Indian MS store for $15 or something when it released). Is it a similar process for XBOX?

      • It's a bit more complicated. You'll need to get credit for that region's store loaded onto the account. Then to use that credit, you'll need to add a credit card for purchases in that region (can add AUS credit card w/ random overseas address and phone number).

        • So the McDonalds shop I own in USA for US Amazon dealings will do the job I guess. Thanks :)

        • @shadowarrior: Hahaha yep. No problem. I panicked the first time I did this as instructions on Whirlpool weren't very clear!

        • @spaghettiman: Hey Spaghettiman, how does games for gold free games work? PS4 you can add the free games of the month to you account, even via website psn store, and you don't have to download them. As long as subscription is alive, you can download and play any time. Trying to add via xbox website asks me to add payment option…and for some reason my country is set to USA and can't change that :|

        • @shadowarrior: The account region you'll need to get live chat to fix for you. That's a whole different thing. For XB360 games you'll need to add a payment option (dunno why) to claim the free games, but XB1 games you don't. You can claim them via website too but if you use instant on, it'll automatically download.

        • @spaghettiman: Instant on, where's this setting at? Don't want it to keep downloading.

        • @shadowarrior: On your Xbox, go to the power settings to uncheck it. Instant on means you don't need to load through the Xbox logo every time you turn it on, and things will update and download automatically.

        • @spaghettiman: Thanks mate, sorted :)
