How to get rid of mark on my Essastone bench?

Hi guys,

Sprayed my Essastone bench with Dettol surface cleaner the other day, and forgot to wipe it off straight away (left on for probably an hour). There are now "whitish marks" on the black colored surface as per link http://tinypic.com/r/21e4wv6/9 .

Any way on earth or hell I could take the mark away or at least minimize it? Bothered my missus a lot unfortunately.

P/S called those stone doctor guy, they said there's nothing they can do with engineered stone :(

Thanks!

The TL;DR of it is "you've done goofed it, OP".

  • I don't think you can get rid of the marks as they looked like it's "eaten" into the top polished layer, however, you could try JIF Cream cleaner. Our kitchen installer recommended that for our caesar stone if we got stubborn marks in it but as it's a mild abrasive, it will buff the surface of the stone so beware. I've also had success with Melamine sponges (i.e. magic erasers) and buy them in large packs (25pc) from Daiso for $2.80, instead of the crazy $5 or so for 4 pc at woolies. Some people also swear by Gumption though, but i have not used it before. However, use at your own risk! i had a white caesarstone bench top so it was more forgiving that a black bench top

Still not sure Jiff would make it better, you would think it would make it worse?

  • spray the rest of the top to match?
