Declaring "Dangerous" Goods in Online Check-in (Domestic Flight with Virgin)

Hi team,

I haven't checked in online before for a flight (haven't flown in many years). I am carrying aerosol deodorant and a perfume in my toiletries bag, which is apparently okay for a domestic flight. I'm also carrying my laptop, phone and a spare phone battery in my carry-on.

When checking in online, the Virgin website asks if I'm carrying any dangerous items. Do I need to say yes here to "declare" them even if they're allowed on the flight? Or is this to declare goods that I know aren't allowed?

I know this is a basic question but I don't want to stuff it up and I can't seem to see an answer online.

  • None of this is a major concern to them when it comes to dangerous goods so you would say no. I would however carry all that you have mentioned above in your carry on (only for a domestic flight). That way if they do have some sort of issue with it they will tell you at the time of scanning and not make you go to the baggage room to sort it out.

The main thing that people are caught out with lately is taking large batteries/battery packs in as checkin. This must be taken as carry on.

Whenever in doubt, just declare. Afaik, you don't get fined for false alarm, but if you don't declare and it happens to be prohibited, you're in trouble.

I bet they've heard the "I've got something to declare" IN MY PANTS before.

  • If you declare your a virgin will they take it away?

I saw a movie like that once.

Which item is yours are you concerned about? None of the items you've listed are considered "Dangerous Goods" so you can say "No".

  • No…
