PAYG Tax - Lodging a Tax Return

Hello OzBargain,

I am a little confused with my tax return and was hoping someone here could help me out.
I started working 2 1/2 months ago and have been paying PAYG tax. A few hundred dollars of PAYG tax has been cut from my income so far. My question is, do I lodge my tax return for 2016 now or do I do that next year in October 2016-17 period?

    The tax period is from 1st July to 30th June.

    So any income you have made in the last two months will be lodged in your next years tax return which will be 01 July 2016 - 30 June 2017.

    You will only need to lodge a tax return for 2016 if you worked between 01 July 2015 - 30 June 2016.
