iPhone 7 Plus Overheating Issue - Do You Have It?

Got my iPhone 7 Plus on the first day available in Australia. It was fine until recently (~4 days ago) when i notice an issue with overheating.. It gets warm while charging which didn't happen on my iPhone 6.. And gets pretty hot while using.. Anyone else has a similar problem with their new expensive toy?

Apple can do no wrong, you must be holding it wrong.

If it is easily reproducible (getting hot while using), bring it to the genius bar to have it fixed? That's one advantage of buying an iPhone.

    • Already made an appointment with my local Apple Store. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem.

  • I've seen intermittent heat issues with the previous generations (6 and 6s Plus) but it's generally infrequent and temporary. I'd always advise turning off the device once you notice it though and allow for it to cool down. This generally resolves the issue. I'd be interested to see what the Genius Bar would say, but they'll likely just replace it upon you replicating the issue.

  • I have iPhone 6 and I have the same problem and I took it to Apple after few months when I got the phone and they told me it was normal (this was nearly 2 years ago).

Recently, I was shocked that my phone was so hot while i was charging with my macbook and I had to stop charging it. Took it back and they told me it was out of warranty but there was nothing wrong :/ Quoted me $175 to change the battery if I don't feel safe :/

    • I'm booked with Apple. I'm gonna video the whole process, If they say it's normal for it to be hot, I'll send the tape to the media. A phone that costs more than 1.4k is definitely not normal to be burning hot..

Does your phone only get very hot when charging with mac?

      • What if they decline to let you record them?

      • My phone gets hot frequently nowadays and it is not only when i am using Mac to charge it.

My phone gets hot even with the original charger and the cable out of the box.

I am going to change the phone very soon so hopefully it doesn't do anything before then :(

I found that Apple store services depends on the person you get, some staffs don't really care what is happening to the phone and will just says it is "normal". Hopefully you get someone good.

Hope you go well with the service.

Make sure you have a spare phone ready to record a video when it bursts into flames

    • I've got my mate to bring along his note 7.
