2005 Toyota Hiace 2.5L Turbo Diesel

Hey guys,

Just posting here because unsurprisingly Whirlpool gave me a handful of stupid replies which did not even address any of my questions.

I'm about to buy a 2005 2.5L Turbo Diesel Toyota Hiace for my new business. It's currently got about 230k's on the clock, and use to belong to a tradie so it's got some shelves drilled into the body.

Does anyone know or have any experience about the DIESEL model of the Toyota Hiace? I've read a lot of different posts and online reviews and there's been a lot of comments in regards to its reliability i.e. Blowing smoke, diff issues, gear box issues, injectors.

Also any advice on what I should look for when inspecting?

Cheers

  • Pretty solid car , when I was a courier one of the guys had a early 00's hi ace diesel, he got it up to like 800,000 km
Not sure if it was turbo tho,

    • Hi ace is definitely the most reliable van, they just aren't the most comfortable,

  • Oh also would recommend a Kia pregio diesel,
Half the price of hi ace, but they are very basic and not much can go wrong with them,
    Bullet proof I reckon
