Who Repairs Gas Oven?

My gas oven needs repair and the customer service recommended a local agency who wouldn't do it.

Really frustrating. Anyone knows what kind of professionals repair gas oven?

Also do I need certified Pro to open my gas oven or can I do it myself?

I am in regional Australia so might have limited choices.

Thanks!

Have you tried searching for it on Google?
A lot of us would just been guessing because there is no specific location for helping you based on your description

Hard to say without more information. Brand? Location?

I have repaired my gas/electric range on several occasions over the last decade.
It is an ILVE, which means costly parts, but similar to all ovens, the components are modular and designed to be simply replaced.
I have replaced the main element, the fan element and the thermostat. Most recently I replaced some sagging door hinges.
In every case it was very straight forward, but usual precautions apply (disconnect power/gas).
In most cases there was a youtube video of somebody preforming the same repair.
Individual parts vary enormously in costs, so I found it best to really spend some time with google trying various part number variations. E.g. searching for a part with a number like 34563456/np you need to also search just the number string, and sometimes variations in the letters too.
In my case, the door hinges were the same part for the old 90cm double glazed door and the new 60cm triple glazed door. I needed it for the 90cm oven, but ended up buying from a seller that only had it listed for the 60cm model (at a saving of $85!).
It took a lot of patient googling to establish the part was identical.

    What repair is required?

    • Do you mean that we can repair gas ovens ourselves? As it involves gas, I wonder whether it must be done by professionals for safety.

I need to replace an element that connects knob and gas supply tube. The oven doesn't have gas supply unless I keep pushing the knob.

I don't know if the law says whether you can work on gas appliances.
I know fixed gas work needs a licensed gas fitter, but my assumption is an appliance does not.

First I would inspect the knob/element to see if there is any visual damage, that might indicate what needs to be replaced.
Next I would google your make and model oven won't stay alight and see what comes back.
That said, my guess is the oven has a thermo couple so that the gas is cut off if the flame is extinguished (to stop you gassing yourself). These can fail over time.
        Take a look at:
        https://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=oven%20replacement%…

and search for replacement thermo couple for your make and model.
Once you think you know what the issue is, try youtube for oven thermo couple replacement, or whatever you decide needs replacing.

My view is if the replacement part is not super expensive, I will try and do it myself. If I end up having to call the repairmen, I am out the part cost, but if it works I save the $100+ call out fee.

        • Thanks great advice
