I'm gonna need a 1 month data SIM that's HOTSPOT COMPATIBLE suggestions?

Hi all,

I picked up a SIM about 13 months ago thanks to the advice here, got a $2 a day Optus one, with 500MB limit. The damn companies block Wifi Hotspot units quite often. So I ended up using an iPhone 5 as a pure sharing device, it actually worked ok for the most part but I do have a proper Netgear 785S Wifi Hotspot (admitedly a Telstra one, but it's unlocked)

Specs here:
http://www.netgear.com.au/service-providers/products/mobile/…
4G LTE: 700/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz, 2x2 MIMO
3G HSPA+: 850/2100 MHz
FDD LTE Rel. 9 Category 4

Note: I'll be spending most of my time here:

I'm guessing I should use a Telstra / 3'rd party Telstra SIM for the most likely best signal quality out there (and hotspot compatibility) Does anyone know of one with a reasonably generous data allowance?

Comments

  • how much data will you need?

    • I'm thinking at least 250MB a day for 4 weeks. I'd like more of course.
I just saw Aldi do a 6GB for $50 job - Telstra 4G network, would I be right, thinking it won't work in a Netgear (or any…) hotspot?

  • Both Optus and Vodafone have 3G & 4G coverage there too. Looking at the maps, Vodafone looks to have better coverage than Optus. You aren't necessarily restricted to Telstra.

    • Wait wtf, is that 12GB for 5$?

      • Yes

        • There must be a catch here? Think it'll work in a hotspot or in that region?

        • @hamwhisperer:

The catch is it's only for the first recharge, then you would be paying $49.90 if you chose to recharge the following month

        • @hamwhisperer:
You have to cancel before it expires…

  • do a search on what towers are available? https://oztowers.com/Home/Query

may not be up to date though.
