Xiaomi Redmi 3S Pro (NOT NOTE 3) Vs Xiaomi Redmi Mi4C

Thoughts on the above phones?
Specifically trying to see if i should get the Redmi 3S Pro (3gb version) or the Redmi M4iC (2gb version)
And no, i do not want a Redmi Note 3 or Note 4. I want a 5" screen at the very maximum .
Currently own a Moto G 1st gen.

Are both phone receiving global ROM updates? I don't care about getting Android Nougart, but Android 6 i want to get on either phone.
I use about 20-30 apps, and do not play games. Main apps i use daily are banking ones and email. Some of the others are work apps that barely get used.
Recent for upgrading is to stop having to transfer pics of my phone as it only has 8gb of space.
Camera not a big deal as camera on the Xiaomi looks like an upgrade as to what i currently use, ditto for battery life.

I have never had a 1080p phone, so don't know whether that makes a big difference.

With the aliexpress sale in about 6 days, the difference in price is AUD 35 between the phones, which doesn't bother me

Those that own either phone (or both!) can you please comment as to any issues you have and what phone i should go for based on the above.

Thanks.

    My 13yro just got the 3s (2gb).
He finds it very good, excellent build, great battery, good performance.
He has fairly small hands and was using a 4.5in phone.
The 3s has a narrow bezel around the screen, so it feels smaller than other 5in phones, I think.

I would consider the 3s definitely.

  • The just announced Redmi 4 trumps both: http://www.androidcentral.com/xiaomi-redmi-4-unveiled-china

The Redmi 4 prime / Pro looks really good on paper. 5", 1080p, a 2ghz energy efficient Snapdragon chipset, 32GB storage and 3GB RAM. Plus that 4100mah battery. Daayyum.

with the right price tag, I think we have a really good mid-end phone that might topple even the Moto G4 play in sales.

      • Yes, agreed. Thanks for this.
Is it worth getting this phone now? There would be no global ROM's available for the phone just yet, or am i wrong in that aspect? Or would it make more sense to get the USD 99 Mi4C?

        • by the time you get it there might be something on xiaomi.eu. I was going to buy the mi4c but now leaning towards $117 redmi note 3 pro (i know you don't want it)

  • I am waiting a few days for the Redmi 4A, almost half the price of Redmi 3s.

Slightly smaller battery, but for light usage you won't need to recharge for several days.

I currently have the Redmi 3s but am looking to resell it and buy the new one.

Loses the fingerprint scanner, but I doubt you need that on a budget phone.
