Time to Carrier Hop - Getting Tired of Telstra Prepaid

Hi All

I've been telstra prepaid for a bit over 2 years now. The offering is starting to tire but i was sticking around as i had $280 built up in credit (not funny money) I usually send it to my parents telstra prepaids and it means they go longer between recharges but had been lazy in recent months and they had heaps of credit lately. Sadly, i was ill last week and i forgot to recharge so i lost it all

I figure this is as good a time as any to change providers. I make a 30-40 min call every second day (parents) and a few back and forth to my wife and arranging things but i figure any prepaid offering is going to be able to cover that.

What i'm mostly after is data, 3-5 gig a month is optimum

I have a number of Telstra prepaid starter kits so i may use those and bounce "back" to Telstra every second month.

Anyone doing this presently? Any pitfalls to be aware of?

Phone is a fruit based product of the 6th gen variety if it matters

Cheers

  • One you move off current prepaid offering you can't go back. New offering only has $5 credit. I'd keep it, but also get $30 android phone to make the most of it with Google play (movies, books).

  • If you were ill last week & lost all your credit, call telstra quickly. Speak to the supervisor about your situation. In most cases they will reinstate it back as a one off.

If they don't do it, hang up and try again until you find someone who does it

The key here is patience and persistence. Good luck!

    • Yeah I have heard of people getting their credit back too. Might as well try.
