Recommend a Small Lightweight Laptop from actual Sydney Store $500-$600

Can anyone please recommend a decent small laptop or notebook (not an Apple/Mac, not a tablet) around $500-$600 or so please?
I need to be able to purchase from a real store in Sydney in next day or so (a real pain as I have been tracking the recent online bargains posted here and I offered to buy one a week or so ago and was told my 18yr old would manage with her 5 yrs old school/deptEd Lenovo until the new year, but just been told the Lenovo is U/S, so I've no time to buy online as won't get one delivered in time as they fly to UK on Wednesday.)
Or an online Australian online store that has guaranteed next day delivery (if there is such a thing)
Only other option maybe would be (a Lenovo) from Amazon UK, as it could get delivered to a relative in time for arrival.
Needs to have a good battery life and be no bigger than 13" (11-12" best)
May possibly need it for an arts uni/tafe course, will mainly be using it for travelling (will be using it to transfer lots of photos from camera to external hard drive), internet browsing/social media and note taking (possibly watching movies/YouTube.)
(Already has a [rubbish] 16" laptop, that is used at home, gaming etc)
Tia.

Lenovo going to have a one day sale up to 47% of laptop desktop etc on 11/Nov (this Friday), the mad so call Chinese style Single live Single enjoy day, might wait that day and try your luck.

    • Thanks. Unfortunately I can't wait as I need one in my hand by Tuesday

Something like this should work well. 4GB RAM, very light, ~10+ hours battery life, and 11.6". The Atom combined with 4GB RAM should be perfectly sufficient for all the outlined tasks.

    • painfully slow

Not really, I own a HP x2 with 2GB RAM and the same CPU (without the upgraded iGPU), and it handles just about everything I throw at it (browsing, documents, even some basic C# development in Visual Studio). The limit I constantly reach is with RAM usage, but the Asus I linked has double so it shouldn't run into any problems.

it wont survive very long! They get slower and slower. Apps have increasing demands and the extent to multitask becomes lower.

OP Honestly with that price range, i would not go lower than a Pentium, If you are willing to spend $100 more you can get the core i5-7200u for $579 by midnight tonight or after that for the rest of the week for $599

it will last you much longer and will be MUCH smoother

Having owned it for a year, I haven't run into any issues or slowdowns (from its initial state). Apps have increasing demands more towards memory, which the Asus covers… The Lenovo likely won't feel much smoother for the tasks that OP is needing it for due to the HDD.

Thanks, looks great but I can't wait for their delivery.

@Fluter: i recommend going to all the retail stores like bing lee, officeworks, jb hi-fi, etc and looking at laptops in your price range. The order you should be looking in is atom<celeron<pentium<i3<i5. I would personally not settle on anything below pentium or i3 for that price if you want it to last years. Your son/daughter's laptop has a celeron inside it.

I use this for uni https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/laptops/acer/aceā€¦ it was on sale for $450ish. Does the job for browsing and lectures (500gb hard drive will suffice for your pictures)
