Need suggestion on buying smartwatch/tablets

Hi folks,

Not sure if this question has been asked before but I am currently considering buying a wearable device for myself as given $600 cash. Note: I am using iPhone, but am not afraid of trying something new (non-Apple products).

Thinking of 2 options below:

Option 1) Buying an Apple watch series 2 42mm at the price of $579
Option 2) Buying an Android smartwatch say $250 (For example, Sony) then the rest spent on a cheap table $350 (for example, Samsung Galaxy Tab)

Please help me with this, also please tell me which is best website/ store to buy these products, and is there any chance getting discount from them.

Thanks heaps. :)

You need to work out what you think it will be used for.

If you are like most people it's notifications on the watch, be it emails, calls, texts, appointments, etc. Some can be interested in fitness stuff, but it's secondary for most.

I would suggest that long battery life is going to be more important than you think it is. Recharging every day is a pain.

As such I'd go for a cheap pebble watch, and spend most of the money on something else.

Do you have an iPhone or an Android phone? iPhone => Apple Watch, Android => Android Wear. You're just not going to get the same integration by mixing. Pebble also works better with Android than the iPhone.

    • mentioned before that I am using iphone but not afraid trying something new. I will take that into consideration.

Well maybe add the cost of a new phone into your pricing as well? New Phone + Cheap Smart Watch is probably more expensive than Old Phone + Expensive Smart Watch.

what are you using it for?

for me the Fitbit Blaze is perfect but it isn't exactly a smart watch but I can answer calls text and get calendar events which is all I need.
If it had support for Whatsapp that would be perfect.

I'm considering buying the Apple watch Series 2 but no sleep tracker is disappointing and charging everyday is a nuisance
but if you use siri and see yourself using apple apps that support the watch it might be worth the trouble

    • My friend has the Apple watch series 2. asked him and he gave it good feedback. He also told me that for one charge you can use it for two days.

I use it for my daily activities such as: receiving text, FB messages, calendar and stuff. Heard that I could play Pokemon Go on Apple watch too which is a deal for me. lol Health activities tracking is not really important to me.

      • yeah apple watch seems like an easy choice for you

I wish apple watch did the sports and sleep tracking then I'd be completely sold
