It is not a movie about a IT man who invented IP address.

    • +2

We have superman, spiderman, ant man, etc why can't we have Ip man ?

      • +3

Because there is One Punch Man

        • No he's the Inch-Punch Man - hence IP

Are you sure? I thought Al Gore had the same master as Bruce Lee

    • Damn it! Hoping it was.

  • Everyone can be a kufu master in a movie, even a panda. All you need is enough advertising.

  • +3

Very good movies. Not historically accurate but damn fun to watch.

    fantastic movies

    they are on Netflix

if your into 70s,80s kung fu movies then youll love these

if you buy them blindly you wont be disappointed.

  • +2

I guess this is something to do with Intellectual Property…

  • Love these movies.. good chance to see Donnie Yen in his proper environment before you see him in that new star wars thing to appeal to the chinese market too

    • IMO he's an extremely average actor. He was in the 2nd crouching tiger hidden dragon movie. Certainly has the moves, though.

Wing Chung, Yip Man. (Canto for "I'm about to hand you your bottom")

    • Wing Chun.., Not Wing ChunG

  • IP MAN, wing chun.

  • +2

The first one is the only good one IMO, the rest were for cashing in, as per usual!.
As a former Wing Chun student (China town Melbourne and later Flinders St). I loved the movie. But the second and third, well they were 2nd and 3rd rate IMO.

    • Taken from this

Region B: Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

      So most likely.

      • I though blurays were region free… They have regions now?!

        • +1

          movies have always had regions

        • @noodlesfordaddy: I know Movies have always had regions on DVD, but was told blurays were region free

@kawinuyo: Games (mostly) are, but movies aren't

  • Just wondering if anyone know, does most international version of Hong Kong films only have Cantonese audio? Cheers.

    • +1

Chinese audio only, with English subtitles on or off option,

      • Thanks for the reply. Personal preference would be baving Chinese Mandarin audio than Cantonese.

LOL the dumbest scene in IP Man 3 was when he fights Mike Tyson and takes some of his punches whilst dish out his own.
In real life if he were to be hit with a Tyson punch he'd be dead.

    • +1

This is true. Didn't like the 3rd movie, not just because of Tyson, but he didn't help.
These movies so often have a giant brute westerner, and the main characters are able to take punches from them without breaking a sweat. A punch to the jaw from Mike Tyson would cause death or at least serious damage.. I don't think Donnie Yen even bled.

Anyway, first two movies are fantastic, and the spin-off prequel is okay too.

      • It's a formula that's worked magic since 1972

      • The real Ip man was was fine martial arts master, but to show us that he can take punches from a heavy weight like Tyson would be stupid.
Yes if was able to dodge every move and counter he may have a chance, but taking rib shots would have caused him death for a person the size of Ip man

  • If you watch to watch only and not to keep a copy, Netflix currently has them. Free 1month subscription.
