Virgin/Singapore Airlines Cheap Ticket Sale

Hi guys

Do you have any official updates from the airlines if they will be honouring the pricing error?

I can see that they still haven't taken the funds from my credit card yet..transaction sitting there as Authorisation Only.

This is a post on a Travel industry website saying they will be honoured.
I certainly hope so, I am off to Beijing for $280.

    • has your credit card been charged?

      • No, it's pending.
But I can see my booking on the Virgin website.

Yep, a friend called up Virgin and the tickets are legit.

Yep, I also have a friend who is a virgin and he is legit.

  • The last I read was the pricing was an error and they jumped on it to close it, but they are honouring anyone who made a successful booking

    • has your credit card been charged?

      • I missed the sale

  • Pretty sure they're honouring it. I have confirmed my flights on the Virgin website and have also called up and added my FF number to both of my bookings (MEL-ICN return and MEL-PEK return).

    • has your credit card been charged?

      • One card has been charged and is no longer holding. The other (Amex) is charged and holding, though this card takes 3-4 days to change over to purchase for literally everything. I have other purchases from Coles that same day that are still holding.

  • My AMEX card is shown as pending but the booking no is valid on virgin website, I book via Expedia and it is still shown there as valid bookings. I think they will honour it, else, will have heard from virgin or expedia by now.

    • Try the letters code under "Confirmation" listed on the Expedia website on the Virgin website.
      Mine was "OZxxxx (Virgin Australia)"

  • My CC has not been charged yet, but I can see my booking on the Virgin site.

    Fingers crossed!

  • It seems most ppl's CC has not been charged yet which in my mind says Virgin is getting ready to cancel the tickets and won't have to worry about refund since it has taken the money.

    • "A transaction (purchase or payment) to your credit card is pending overnight processing. If the transaction is made before 8.30pm, in most instances these transactions will process overnight. Any payments after 8.30pm will be processed the following night. However, sometimes it can take a few days for the merchant (i.e. retailer) to complete the transaction; in this case purchases will appear as pending until the transaction is completed, or for up to five days.

Sometimes merchants apply a ‘holding’ transaction called a ‘pre-authorisation’ – this is common in petrol stations or hotels, when you receive the goods or services before the final payment is requested. The pending transaction should disappear once the final transaction is processed, or after five days."

So I guess we will know by Monday at the latest. I think there is a time limit by which they can reasonably cancel the bookings and not be challenged.

      • the pending transaction has disappeared from my credit card account. Credit card company cant see anything too. But I called up Expedia, Virgin and Singapore AIrlines and they all confirmed the booking.

Not sure what is going on :((

  • Also, just for general knowledge:

    Wrong price

Where all units of the same item have been priced incorrectly or are scanning incorrectly at the register, the seller does not have an obligation to honour that price. In these circumstances, the seller is within its rights to correct the error at the register by offering you the item at the correct price (provided this is done before your payment is accepted).

A seller can’t attempt to correct the error or claw back any money after they have processed your sale and accepted payment, as the transaction (and the contract) is deemed complete at this point.

  • the pending transaction has disappeared from my credit card account. Credit card company cant see anything too. But I called up Expedia, Virgin and Singapore AIrlines and they all confirmed the booking.

Not sure what is going on :((

    • My payment has been processed and gone through. Interestingly, the two tickets appeared as separate transactions.

  • Has anyone gone on their cheap flights yet?

    • Yes and returned with no problems. All good!

      • Nice! Thanks!
        Did your flight include baggage?
I logged in to see my booking and it says baggage: 0kg.

        • Who's the operating carrier?

Ours was SingaporeAir and meals + baggage included.

        • @Sleepy24seven:

That's good news! Ours is SQ too :)

        • @adamadam:

Call Virgin and ask them to give you the SQ PNR. Then use SQ website to select seats and later online-check in ;)

SQ releases seats 72 hours before the flight and allows check-in 48h before departure.

          Enjoy the trip

        • @Sleepy24seven:

          Thanks for the tip!
I will ask for SQ PNR.
Will that give the e-ticket number / booking reference number that I can use for the SQ website?

        • @adamadam:

Yes, once you login to SQ it should show you all baggage information and whatnot.

Now you have Virgin's PNR, just call and ask for the PNR on the SQ system.
