Balance Transfer - ANZ. Anyone Has Done This Recently?

Hi all,

Sometime around this time last year or even 2 years ago, there would be posts about ANZ Balance Transfer.

This year however, has been a bit quiet from ANZ.

I am just wondering if anyone has recently been doing balance transfer with ANZ lately and whether there was (or is) a good deal.

Thanks

Zz

  • Is there a specific reason you are just looking at ANZ?

Seems to be heaps of deals out there full many vendors. http://www.creditcardcompare.com.au/balance-transfer-credit-…

    • Hi, thanks for the question/response…

The reason for ANZ is simply because with others, you would have to apply as a new customer.

ANZ is one of the few (Westpac is another) that used to have deals even for existing customers and I am already their customer. Doing it this way shouldn't affect credit rating and saves me from the hassle of applying and not to mention, risking rejection.

I could do a balance transfer (not urgent but would be nice) at present.

But I just want to know if any OZbs here have had a balance transfer with ANZ and I just want to know the experience of it and whether there was a good deal around.

      • If I were in your position and I could possibly save hundreds (or thousands) by transferring my CC balance to another provider, I would do it mate.

  • I do it once a few years but you should note that the balance will revert to cash rate now instead of the purchase rate. ANZ and nab were the last of the big four to do that. So check it out before you do it.

    • What do you mean? Their Cash Advance / Purchase Rate are about the same anyway, don't they?

I have only recently paid off the balance a few months ago of the last BT deal (a year ago) so I could do another one around this time.

      • Cash Advance is around 23% while the purchase rate of around 13%. Until early this year ANZ and nab had been reverting the balance transfer to the purchase rate but it's now cash advance rate plus higher % of transfer fee. You should read up on the balance transfer conditions.

You can still take advantage of it the balance transfer even if it's cash advance rate. You just need to repay it in full before it expires.

        • Yup. Done that.

I always paid the BT about a week before it expires.

          Thanks

  • If you call ANZ cards they will offer you 0% BT for 12 months but with 1 or 2% fee

NAB also offer the same for existing customers but with 2% fee

    • Thank you.

There is a website at creditcardfinder that suggests 12 months with 0% fee but I am gonna take a punt and call in probably tomorrow to see how it goes.

Otherwise, 18mths or 24mths with 2% probably doesn't sound too shabby now given the Interest Rate bias appears to be moving up soon. I hope that's wrong.

NAB always has this offer but always with BT fee. Their interest free days are also 44 days so I will think of them very very last.

But thanks for the info. I hope there are more Ozbs doing BT for free recently with ANZ…

    • I rang today and they offered me 0% for 12 mths with… wait…. 3% fee.

Does it appear like different people will say different thing?
