Kia Sportage Si 2016 - Good driveaway price

Hi Ozbargain!

We are currently looking to purchase a new 2016 Kia Sportage Petrol (with metallic paint) and are doing the run around with dealers to try get the best price.

Has anyone brought one and if so what did you pay please for drive away? Or know what is reasonable discount to negotiate under the RRP?

Full RRP is $33,240.20 drive away, these guys are advertising one without the paint for $27,890 - Drive Away.

There is a $1000 gift card at the moment which is supposed to be after you negotiate, but according to Kia facebook many people found it would not be honored on low prices.

Thanks for any help or ideas!

The option is a gift card or 1000$ off the car. You won't get both.
27 890 is very cheap for an auto.
You might get away with 27k but any more is pushing it. The dealers are getting a rebate on the wholesale price at $27,890.
But yeah, 27K with no gift card would be about fair. Just ask for mats and full tank of petrol.
They are making nothing out of that. I used to do finance at a Kia dealership

    • Hi murphy84, thank you so much for your help really appreciate it! It seems difficult to know how far to push so great to have the ballpark.

      Thanks again!

yeah I said 27K was fair, but it's a very good deal. You're winning with a price like that.
If youre financing then ask their business manager to beat the % rate too. Dealerships can actually give very good interest rates if you show them what you've already got.

        • Great thanks!

  • looks good

just check the build date, not compliance date, BUILD date - make sure it's not been sitting around since 2015

don't rush at it, but do be aware that Werribee move A LOT of stock

might go quickly, but then again, might not

  • Thanks good tip

  • The design is quite polarising. I actually like it the more I see it. Congrats (potentially) on the purchase OP!

  • It's unlikely you'll get the "gift card". They just say it was part of the negotiated price

    • Correct no dealer gives you the discount off the final negotiated price as per the terms & conditions!

      • But terms say:

Gift card can only be claimed, completed and redeemed at the time of purchase at participating Kia dealers and the $1,000 (incl. GST) amount will be deducted from the ultimate negotiated purchase price of the new vehicle.

That sounds like after the price you negotiated, doesn't it?

But the offer has a bailout clause so it could almost promise anything and get away with not delivering on it.

Kia reserves the right to change, supersede or extend these offers.

        • Yep seems the dealers are being dodgy & not operating as per the terms & conditions of the offer!

One dealer - claiming to be one of the highest volume Kia dealers even said they didn't know about the offer that had been running for two weeks!
