Air Purifiers? Dyson Pure?

Hey recently in the market to purchase an air purifier and the Dyson Pure has been advertised a lot. Has anyone had any experience with air purifiers and also in particular the Dyson Pure, does it do what it says on the box?

Another notable purifier I have come across is the Xiaomi Mi Air 2 which seems to have the same stats, does anyone have one?

Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You are definitely on the right track getting one with both a HEPA + Carbon filter. I have a sharp purifer that has worked great for years but I am not sure they have a smart one with an app.

I have Mi Air 2. It is hard to say if it works. It has PM2.5 meter in built, but you need to know what you are measuring.
Filter lasts about 4-5 months. You would not be able to use Mi Air as a fan, as it blows upwards, not like Dyson.
I do not know how to measure before/after % of allergens in the room, so can only assume that it works

    • subjectively, do you think there's a difference in air quality when using the machine? and where abouts did you buy the mi air? its a good looking machine.

      • Cannot tell, as I run it only at night. Bought at Gear Best. Check other sites, as filters on GB are not best prices.

    • Hey @SergeyAU,
Just wondering if you had any other further impressions or thoughts about the mi air 2?
      Cheers

Works well. New filters are availble if HEPA is needed - about $65- $70 delivered.
I thought that they released new model of the unit of you look on Xiaomi's website, but I did not follow up with the vendors to see what model it is - there seem to be a Pro model as well, but it is still using the same filters as Mi Air 2.
Again, I do not have asthma or allergies, so hard to tell how well it works in comparison

Look here for some discussion on the filtration of the Mi Air 2: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/267632

Xiaomi has recently released a stronger model (Mi Air Pro) which apparently has a stronger particulate sensor and more air flow than the other model. It's only been recently released in China so it might take a little while to be able to purchase it for delivery to Australia.

The two scenarios where you would be able to tell a major difference is if you have certain allergies (Dust/dander etc.) and it could help with congestion like symptoms and the other is with the removal of certain smells(from cooking/smoke etc.)

No idea about the Dyson one. IQAir & Inovaair I consider to be top of the line- though very costly upfront and for the filter replacements.

  • Doesn't sound very ozbargain. Unless you have medical issues I think they'll just purify your wallet by removing excess dollars.

    • Those with medical issues it helps the most, especially with allergies. That is unless you are living in a heavy air polluted place like China where I think most households would have some type of device to filter the air.

By the way I know of a ton of better ways to purify your wallet ;)

  • Whats the best price one can get for the Dyson 305169-01 Pure Cool Link Tower Wi Fi Purifier ?
Hoping to get one for some hayfever relief.
