Unconfirmed? I'm sure I saw an email about this yesterday… Yea, that pricing too.

  • damn…was looking for flights in April-May…

  • Really need to go back there, thanks OP!

  • Damn, this is cheap! and during their peak! I got a flight return to paris for $800 during the virgin price error (same dates as this), and this is the same price, with just a different lay over/destination, but once in Europe, you can travel anywhere pretty easily.

Definitely a good deal! Good stuff Scoot!!

  • +1

Athens not mentioned even though that's where the flight arrives and departs.
Saying fly to the Greek Islands is kind of misleading given a return airfare from Athens to Santorini with Olympic is around the same price as Scoot's one way ticket to Athens ($300 odd).

Edit: Just noticed that reference to Greek Islands has been removed by OP.

has anyone used scoot to travel to greece? I assume they are no frills, i.e you get a tiny seat and nothing more? would you trust your whole family traveling on scoot?

    mixo

    • It's a new route. I think you get exactly the same service, offerings and upgrade options as all of their flights.

    • +1

would you trust your whole family traveling on scoot?

      Yea, why not?

    • +4

      Of course

      Owned by Singapore Airlines

      Brand new B787 aircraft

Yes no frills but look at the price. in 2010 we flew on Air Asia X to London for $600 return. Sure there was no seat back screen but we took our own devices. Their food was cheap - and good

If budget airlines are a problem foe you, go on full service airlines instead - it's your money

I flew Scoot MEL-SIN earlier this year and quite liked them.
Good value for money, seats didn't seem smaller than other airlines.

Keep in mind that you pay for the trip. You can get any kind of extras, but you pay for any of these:
      * check-in luggage
      * food, drinks (even water)
      * entertainment
      * using the power point in your seat
      * wifi

I loved the fact that they had wifi on board. Although that's probably to make you use up your phone's power and then pay for the power point.

    Regular price? That's awesome

    • Is this to say that this will be there regular price going forward?

  • +3

+$159 for baggage, meal & a drink? Sure inflates the final price.

    • +4

Maybe they give you a 2 foot souvlaki

        I love souvlaki

  • Ok!!! So hard to resist the temptetion! Need to get back soon!

  • Great deal!!

  • Dumb questions: with all their EU hassles is Greece now cheap or expensive? Google gives me wildly different opinions!

    • +3

Ridiculously cheap if you're a local, but even so, the tourist places are far cheaper than most other European countries, far cheaper than France, Italy and the UK I found

      • Excellent, thanks for the reply! No, I'm not a local, just on a month holiday. Although I do have an EU passport, and now I'm wondering if I could pick up a cheap bit of land and a little cottage somewhere and retire! ;)

        • +1

At this point land shouldnt cost too much either, they need the $$$ :)

    • +2

Ive been to Greece twice in the last 3 months. For me with the aussie dollar its ridiculously cheap. Depends on what your spending habits are, a 700ml bottle of Jonny from supermarket was 15EUR cigarettetes 3 EURO coffee 0.7-1.3 EUR gyros 2-2.50EURO bus fare 1EUR taxis very cheap, air bnb 30EUR/night for a place in the heart of THESSALONIKI, Ryan air flights between ATH and THESS 16 EUR,

      • Wow, excellent! Are RyanAir flights hard to get (ie can folk actually get those prices, or is it mostly much more expensive?)

        • +1

The cheap Ryanair prices are always quoted without luggage. Unless you plan on traveling really light the costs increase substantially. Still cheap however.

        • +1

@Cluster: Adding luggage is not that much more was about 14 EUR for 15kg, and 10kg hand luggage on board is allowed

        • +1

easy to get the cheap prices, and I only bokked this flight 3 weeks out

  • Is this deal live already…?

    Ozbargain meet up in greece?

So can any one who has flown with Scoot before summarize if they are worth traveling with for the saving? granted you need to pay extra for baggage, food even layover, how do things like legroom, seat comfort etc go compared to say a higher end airline like emirates?

Asking so I can do a Money vs Comfort analysis (I meant its a very long flight).

    • +1

Flew SE Asia. Was good. Cheap. BYO food if u want. We had carry on

    • +1

I have flown Scoot and other LCCs around the world. I am 5 foot 10, would never fly Scoot without paying for an exit or bulkhead row, so I just factor that into the price. But be careful, some bulkhead seats have the door in the way, and never choose the middle of the plane because they cut out space for galley so people can't walk through to the toilet on the other side and one flight I had 50+ people walking across my legs to use the toilet. So best to get aisle seat on either side.

Testing out some dates now and trying the promo code… "Specified promotion does not exist: GOGREECE". Does it activate only at 12/1pm?

Scoot site seems to suggest sale started yesterday?

    "Sale Period:
    Perth Time (GMT+8):1000hrs 14 Nov 2016 (Mon) – 2359hrs 27 Nov 2016 (Sun)
    Gold Coast Time (GMT+10): 1200hrs 14 Nov 2016 (Mon) – 0159hrs 28 Nov 2016 (Mon)
    Sydney/Melbourne Time (GMT+10): 1300hrs 14 Nov 2016 (Mon) – 0259hrs 28 Nov 2016 (Mon)"

Giving it a few more minutes to double check, but not sure this is a deal…

  • -1

    Thinking it's a no deal.

01:08pm still comes up with 'Specified promotion does not exist: GOGREECE'

  • +1

    GOGREECE promo code doesn't exist.
Looked at all dates… haven't seen cheaper than $367 each way from Perth.

  • +1

For such a long flight, believe me you want comfort and minimal layovers. Once you add baggage and food and entertainment SCOOT really aint that cheap, but if you dont want what some consider necessities then this might be for you

  • GOGREECE promo code doesn't exist.

  • Does this work one-way going from Athens to Perth? Because if so, I cant seem to get anywhere NEAR that price.

  • be warned on connecting flights delays and late check ins even if flights are delayed you loose your money and will be forced to buy a new ticket. happen to us in singapore and i tried to get taxes refund near impossible as admin fee more then taxes gave up not worth it unless direct flight.

  • Merged from Athens Return Ex Perth from $650, Melb/Syd from $750 with Scoot. One Way Available for Perth $325 Melb/Syd $375

The previous deals had expired and these prices seem even better!

The sale goes until November 27th however I doubt all the sale fares will last that long.

    • You can travel anytime between June 20 and October 28, 2017, which is smack-bang in Greece's summer season.

    • Scoot says it will be flying you over in a brand new Dreamliner.

    • All airport taxes are included in the fare.

    • I flew scoot.

The good: Cheap, seats were quite spacious and plane looked pretty new, on time, luggage allowance is not anal like other airliners.

The bad: No in flight food or drinks - THIS INCLUDES WATER! Can someone confirm if this is even legal on a long haul flight? You have to pay for it. No in flight entertainment - you can't even purchase it because there is not screen.

      • +1

"No in flight food or drinks - THIS INCLUDES WATER!"

Scoot are classed as a 'budget' airline. Like Jetstar and AirAsia. You have to pay extra for food and drinks, including water. Regardless of flight time.

      • umm yeah? I havent heard of a budget airlines giving out free water or entertainment in a long time. If you want those 'free' things then you have to pay the premium price, but i m pretty sure you'd rather fork out $5aud for a bottle of water.

inflight entertainment comes in some form of tablet which you have to purchase usage for. did you even ask or read the guides in the seats???

      • It's water. It's been a while since I hit up Air Asia, but back then you got water in a cup, same with my recent jetstar flights. Can't even get it in a cup with scoot. I suggest, in true OzB style. bring a paper cup and use the restroom water :P.

        • +1

haha, the reason they dont give out 'free' water is because the water that would be given out has to be from bottles. water that comes from the plane ie. restroom water is treated, or most likely quite dangerous to drink as they dont really clean the storage tanks. I always bring a few spare empty bottles from home and then fill up after passing through security :)

airasia now dont give out water as well, but if you prebook your meal you do get a bottle for free.

please dont drink the restroom water

        • +2

          @kza2610:

Bloody $4 for a pos 300ml bottle. There was more water in my instant noodles for god sake. Next time I'm going to bring a jerry can filled with water for the check in and sell it at $22 for 500ml. That will show them.

        • @Calvin27: haha! make your money back selling water to cover your flight tickets! Thats some good business strategy :)

    • 39 hours and 40 minutes transit time??? No thanks

    • Amazing prices! Doesn't include baggage though, 20kg baggage is +$94 each way ;)

    • Where is the stopover at?

    • whats with the water policy. Its not like you bring your own bottles from home as the confiscate(border force) them thinking your making a bomb!

      Captive market…

      mixo

p.s also noticed 39+ hours to get back..thats a long long flight..

      • Well stop is in singas so make use of your time there!

    • combine with RYANAIR sale Athens to Germany/rome/Milan 14.99 euro one way
      https://www.ryanair.com/gr/el/

    • I can see the greeks bringing in kg's of food in.Image all the greek food, salads going around the plane..hehehhe…and dont forget the deserts..Apart from the water policy I am warming to this idea.At least the food will be fresh not cooked properly and not some microwave reheated crap you usually get…

      mixo

    • There's nothing stopping anyone buying water in the terminal after the security check, or taking an empty water bottle through security and filling it before the flight. That's the same as taking food onboard from the lounge or sandwiches etc made at home before the flight.

Best option for food brought on board is something that really smells - sardines, curried eggs, kimchi , blue cheese.. etc. You might as well let everyone know you came prepared.

      • Yes filling them is good, but we are ozbargin'er here, have you seen the price of water at the airport…

      • You get double checked in some places liek SG and HK. You go through the security and then for some reasons you go through a second set - it's a purpose built boarding gate. So basically, you can't bring your own water, but they do have a tap in the boarding gate.

      • Unfortunately, you will have a second security check before all flights into Australia that will require you to give up all liquids just before boarding the plane. The odds of a drinking fountain between gate entrance (where second security check will be) and plane door is nil.

  • 3 security checks at Denpasar:

    • Before check-in
    • Before immigration
    • Before departure lounge - no water fountain available inside

Second 2 in Singapore. All the departure lounges I have used have had water fountains.
