TPG Mobile Talk & Text Cap Plans, $9.99, $18.99 or $35.99 plans

120

TPG now have Talk & Text Cap Plans called Light, Medium and Heavy respectively.

Light - $9.99/month with $250 total cap value ($125 to any network, and $125 between TPG users), with call rates and flagfall being the same to existing cap saver plans.
Medium - $18.99/month with $700 total cap value ($330 to any network, and $370 between TPG users).
Heavy - $35.99/month with $1000 total cap value ($600 to any network, and $400 between TPG users).

Most notable differences to the existing cap saver plans is that these plans lets you use video calls (whereas cap saver doesn't), and a reduced data rate of 0.2¢/10KB, vs 2¢/10KB for cap saver (still quite expensive!).

Downside is that no data is included (and can't be taken out of the cap either, but charged extra), and loss of TPG to TPG between 8pm to midnight.

Overall the Light plans offers better value over the existing Cap Saver Starter plans (at the same price), and the Light plans ($9.99) also seems slgihtly better than the Basic Cap Saver plans, priced at $12.99 ($150 worth of calls for basic, compared to $$250 for light split, with $125 for other networks, and $125 for TPG to TPG).

There is also no extra charge to change to these plans if you are an existing TPG mobile customer.

The fact that data is not included in the cap is a real negitive I think, even though it is cheaper. I think that I will stay with the 49 cap saver plan that I am on now. For people that don't use data though it looks like a great deal.

good point. data is charged extra, and 13/1300/1800/190 excluded from these talk and text caps (whereas existing cap saver these numbers are included). If you plan to use data, best to stay away from these plans (with $1 PAYG, or LiveConnected plans offering better choice for data packs).

    Deal breakers:
    -Data is excluded in cap
    -13/1300/1800/190 numbers excluded
-No Tpg - Optus/Soul/TPG between 8-12pm (replaced by TPG-TPG at any time of day)
-If you exceed either 'TPG-TPG' it wont come out of the 'TPG-to any Network', but straight from your bank deposit.

But there is video calling and slightly more credit.

    • More deal breaker:
      -International call is excluded

international calls was excluded from the cap saver plans as well

    • The positives will benefit those on existing Starter Cap Saver plans, that don't call 13/1300/1800/190 numbers, where they wouldn't get TPG (8pm-midnight) free calls anyway, but also don't use data. Flagfall and call rates are the same, as there is no cost to change to the new Light plans. May be a small few that fit these criteria, but probably the only few that largely benefit on the new plans nevertheless ($50 worth on starter, vs $250 worth on light).

    • How much included web use was in the old plans?

      • However much cap you get per month @ $0.02 Per 10KB.

It's interesting to note that data rates are only marginally more expensive than the "effective data rates" on the $12.99 -> $39.99 cap, half the price of the $9.99 cap, and only double the price of the $49.99 & $79.99 caps.
