What's the cheapest thing that can be purchased on Virgin Australia?

Trying to see if I can reach the spend threshold for a targeted Virgin Australia AMEX Statement Credit (spend $150 get $30 back).

I'm about $10 short, so I might as well spend $10 to save $30 (net saving $20).

Anyone have any ideas?

The following ideas have already been explored/exhausted:

  • Gift Cards (min $50)
  • Seat Selection
  • Carbon Offset (still just short)
  • Baggage (this works, but is $35 so I'm looking for something cheaper)

Thanks in advance :)

  • When I am looking for 'anything cheap', I enter a space in the search field. It doesn't work on all sites, but have you tried that?

I'm not sure what you're saying..?

You go to the search field, and you literally type a space in and search for a blank character?

      • yep.

        give it a go

I tried. I have no idea how this is supposed to work.

    • Not a bad idea and the fact there's a competition is a bonus too.

Cheapest I can find from a few foreign countries (mostly in Asia) seems to be New Zealand.

edit: Domestic Travel & Baggage insurance it is! $13.95

Now I need to find out whether purchases through this count as a Virgin Australia purchase

      • I decided to bite the bullet and just give it a shot.

The charge comes up as COVERMORE INS AUS (V), so I don't think this is gonna work! Oh well.

  • Virginity?

  • Have you already accounted for credit card surcharge? Will that, combined with carbon offset, get you over the line?

I have…. and I just checked again… it leaves me $0.07 short. Seriously. LOL.

  • I would email AMEX from your bank mail and ask them to let you off the 7c. It's worth a try, and AMEX are good to deal with. At least you will hear back asap. Tell 'em you miscalculated.

    • Hm. It's a good idea.

However, I realised I'll be much shorter than 7c (due to refunds) so I think that'll leave me too short.

I won't try, but thanks everyone for their help/ideas! Appreciate it!

  • I thought baggage was $20 (perhaps that was Jetstar though … and probably also increased) … so they are making this a tad difficult for you. Seat selection sounds good; when I book (early) I try to secure seat just behind the escape door hatch about half/third way down .,, Worth paying extra for the long legs that don't like being cramped into primary school sized seating, 😉 Good luck! But, if you can go with the gift vouchers … handy for Christmas.
Ps. Do you need to book a rental car too; would that help?

    • $35 (maybe due redemption booking?)

      Seat selection already factored in

      Nope don't need car rental.

All good - I have accepted that I won't reach it. Too late now anyway. Deal expired 20 November.
