Clothes pegs that don't break, rust, mark...

First world issue:

A year after buying Reva Super Holds, even they're snapping.

Wooden pegs seem to leave marks, or retain moisture and rust the spring quicker.

I do however use pegs like in this image: - line goes through topmost hole and peg holds clothes rather than clamping them against the line like this:. I do this as the actual line gets dirty when not used and transfers visible marks to whites, plus I don't get the peg marks or folds, plus it's super quick bringing in clothes when rain hits - I can remove a full line in seconds by grabbing 5-10 garments at once and yanking downwards. But using this top hole isn't quick to initially put the peg on the line, so I leave them on the line constantly and UV kills them.

So that top hole must be there and not too big, otherwise the pegs and garments will glide along the line to the lowest point.

Any recommendations, or am I just too weird and have no hope?

  • Get some from ikea, mine are going strong even after 4 years.

Try HEGS. Award winning Australian designed, available at Woolworths $6 for a pack of 18. They are worth the extra cost in the long term.

    • Wow! The guy who invented these must have read my post! Thanks a tonne - they sound exactly right. Doesn't sound like they've done enormous UV testing but I can handle that for their price. I shall forever more have a skip in my step.

        The reviews tend to disagree

After reading the reviews here's a summary, the original HEGS were good, worked well. They changed them (probably trying to cut cost price or a change of manufacturer) and they are now crap and break.

Anyway, I just buy Reva, they are the only ones that don't perish or go manky and hold the stuff securely. Aldi's copy version of Reva are a no-go, do not buy. They look the same, but all fade, and go brittle and break.

        • @sparkles: Ah man… can't they just put the price up? Spring in step lost.

  • They are probably not the solution you are after as they are not designed for that, but I use WizzPegs for my socks and rate them highly.

  • I never leave my pegs on the line. That's so lazy. You can't leave anything out in the Aussie sun and expect it to live an exceptionally long life.

My pegs range between 5-10 years of life.

  • https://wirepegs.com/ are kinda expensive, but great
