How Do I Find A Property?

OK guys I'm a 24 year old guy looking to purchase a home to live in.

Just wanting to know all possible ways of finding a house, as the only way I have found so far is realestate.com.au

Any help is appreciated:)

  • domain.com.au, allhomes.com.au,property.com.au.pounding the pavement in the area you want to live in.

  • Congratulations for purchasing a property at 24, realestate.com.au is the best website to look for, good luck, hope you will invite all of us for your housewarming party :)

  • "For Sale By Owner" sites might reveal a few gems. And trustee auctions (deceased estates)

  • Just drive or walk around. If you see one you like knock on the door. Real estate websites are overrated.

Thread title is misleading. Should be 'how do I find a property'. As for different ways to purchase: cash, credit card, loan or blackmail - you choose.

    not much of a tip.
my brother sold his first house by attending an auction for an identical property to his (inner city town house). he watched who bid and then at the conclusion of the auction invited the 2nd highest bidders back to his place for beers and showed them the house. offered them the place for what they had bid to at the previous auction and they accepted. (he did give them a week to think about it but they wanted it then and there)

my brother was happy as he sold his place in 30 minutes with out realestate fees and at a good price.

the buyers were happy because there was no pressure, free beer, they knew their $$ limit (from auction), had a very thorough personal walk through and break down of the house and it's renovations by the owner.

    • Good work.

  • Going on a tangent. You got your finance in order though? Many moons ago i got a preapproved loan for X amount. After that went to decide where i want to live given the price range i can work with as per the preapproved loan.

Then it was a matter of going to different real estate agents asking what they got in my price range.
