I purchased the S4 version on the previous deal, and there are a couple of things to note:
The wireless charging is incredibly low powered and slow, even with a 2A charger.
It also has 3 modes, the default of which is not charging. So if you unplug the charger or jiggle the micro sd connector you need to make sure that you select the correct mode for charging by pressing the button at the back 2 times. The button is colour coded, but it is on the back hidden away so making sure you are in the correct mode can be hard to see and for me required moving the unit around to see the back. I know this sounds simple and easy but not being able to see the button when the phone is on the charger always made me paranoid that I was going to get up in the morning and find that my phone had not been charging, so I was forever lifting the dock to check and see it was in the correct mode, kinda killing the convenience of wireless charging.

Oh and this may work with a nexus 5 as it is QI, but if the charging pad does not line up properly, it will charge even slower. My old nexus 4 worked with the S4 charger, but I needed to rotate it so the head of the phone was facing down or it wouldn't work very well.
Does this come with a special case then for the iPhone that plugs into the lightning connector? Not very clear from the product discription.
From my reading previous threads, I believe it comes with a case that includes a QI coil, which as you suggests, plugs into the lightning connector. I didn't spend too long on in as I actually have an android phone.
My Samsung one turned out to be garbage.
