Best VISA card - lowest/zero annual fee - anything with no foreign transaction fees?

Hi,

Does anyone know of a VISA card with any of the following:
1) Low to zero $ annual fee
2) Zero foreign transcation fee.

Don't care about rewards for it.

On holiday in japan I had to visit the hospital (got a tuna fish bone stuck and had to see and ENT specialist to have it removed! My Mastercard did not work and it worked everywhere else there and around the world). VISA did work however, so just in case i am considering traveling with both cards in the future.

Thanks.

Cards with No Overseas Transaction Fees

    Check out the usual suspects.

For Visa that is just Citibank+ - but that is a Debit Card.

Do you mean that the Mastercard wasn't accepted?
    Or was declined?

    • Not declined, just not accepted even though there was a big MasterCard sign plastered on the machines board.

  • Yeah, I've had problems with MasterCard in Japan too. The Citibank visa debit worked fine.

    • Yeah likewise. MasterCard rejection was just at the hospital for me though

  • Thanks. Used that link in the past it was very helfpul.
I have a citibank + visa debit card and a Bankwest Platinum Credit card. Both help me a lot. Just looking to see if I can get a visa credit card. I think ANZ adventure card (American Express or Visa) is the only one. Which at the $225 price tag is not worth it for me ( no offence to AE users but in the country having an AE card isnl useless and I won't be coming back to it again).

  • Good to hear you're ok though!
