MyRepublic - Customer Service Guarantee Waiver

So I signed up for NBN through My Republic, make the payment and am taken to a page once the payment goes through with a "Customer Service Guarantee Waiver" which I basically have to agree to or they may not "provide the service to you."

Is this pretty normal these days? Does this basically mean they can give me a shitty service and I have no recourse?

Does anyone have any experience with their customer service so far?

I'm feeling a little apprehensive…

You might find the waiver is for the VoIP service?

Yes, it's standard for many ISPs to have the customer sign a CSG Waiver.

The context of the waiver is not for customer service (i.e. person to person interaction) but rather for voice service (e.g landline or VOIP).

Ah ok. Thanks for the replies. Was a little worried it would give them the power to give me a shitty service and that'd I'd have no recourse.

    Thanks

  • I think you'll find no RSP on the NBN can offer a CSG now. Because they can't guarantee a VOIP service over the internet which they can't control outside the boundary of their own network, nor guarantee against outages (particularly on HFC and FTTN) due to power loss etc.

I believe only Telstra on UNI-V Ports (fttp) can offer a CSG

The CSG is a holdover from the old Telecom days when your old phone would work even when the power was down.

MTM - expensive, and even less reliable than before!
