Telstra Mobile credits cannot buy Google Play games

I have been buying Google Play games with my long life Telstra prepaid phone plan as recently as last week. Today I signed in and it is no longer an option even though my credits do not expire for another two weeks. Any ideas why? Has Telstra changed Google Play billing perhaps?

      People on the older telstra prepaid offer like me can still pay using telstra credit.

    Sometimes they have outages, try again in a few hours
