True, but plenty of other mediocre "bargains" being posted by reps. Just recall seeing you question their gwp on the other reid threads is all.
@eediot: I have an interest in bikes so I am aware of Reid Bikes standard modelling for promotions, they really should be trying a bit harder if they want to build a good reputation on this awesome website.
Also let's not forget it's Ozbargain's 10th Birthday so it wouldn't hurt to come out with an above average deal, not below average.
And if anyone can walk in to a store & get 20% off any bike if their old bike has been stolen then wouldn't you at least expect the same discount for Ozbargain members, not a measly 5%.

Echoing the rest. I was interested in a Reid bike for a while (their customer service put me off in the end, tbh) and 5% is a nothing discount considering the regular $50 + fairly average accessories.
I know bugger all about bikes but when I ask my mates who have some clue about bike is to stay away from reid bikes?? Anyone know why?

no not rich, plus i did tell them that i don't want to spend more than 500 bucks on a bike..
I cant remember what one said about the bikes, not build good enough, or the parts they used..
One worked in a bike shop, had too many complaints about them from customers..

Did your mate work for Reid? Can't imagine that many Reid customers going to the lbs for service.
Nothing wrong with the components they use as far as I can see, perhaps the end user didn't assemble it properly?
Do you have any speed + cadence sensors using ANT+? Or better yet, ANT+bluetooth combo?
Perhaps in store but not listed on line?

I will try and address a few things raised…
RE Quality of deal - Yes, we do often run better short term deals like the $50 off a bike… but these are quick offers that only last a few days. The VIP discount we've posted here is valid until further notice (at least until the end of the year). If you bought one of our more expensive bikes, then this 5% discount is actually a better deal for you. This doesn't make it a bad deal - it just depends on what you are after.
RE Stolen bikes 20% offer - not just anyone can walk in and get this discount. You must have a police report verifying your bike was stolen. We make very little money on this deal (in some cases we make nothing). It's more a goodwill exercise that we cannot extend to everyone (or we would be out of business and nobody would get a bike).
