Surface Pro Stylus Pen Problems

Anyone else had problems with the stylus pens for surface pro 4?

Bought a package (from Microsoft website) in January for daughter to use at high school.
Also purchased complete warranty package as they said everything in the package was covered.

Had to get the pen replaced for a third time last week.
Previous two occasions there was no problem getting replacement but this time it was a nightmare! The rep was impossible to deal with.
Slow to respond, asking stupid questions and after over an hour refused to do anything saying pen was not covered under the warranty.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and it all went quiet. At that point, I ended the conversation (on live chat).

A few minutes later, telephone rang. Said he was a supervisor from Microsoft, and very hard to understand!
He asked if ink was still coming out of the pen - the pen does not work on ink.
He asked if the light on the pen worked - there is no light on the pen.
He asked if the surface pro was working - ummm, yes, that isn't the problem. It's the pen that isn't working.
Then, he said no problem, we will send a replacement.

Replacement arrived a few days later.
BUT, the eraser did not work! On checking, the terminals inside of the pen are corroded :/

Sooooo, this time I contacted them via Facebook (didn't want another headache via live chat).
They responded pretty fast and asked for contact info.
Received a call 2 days later - even harder to understand though.
Agreed to send (another) replacement, which arrived today.

Daughter has told me a lot at school are having similar problems with these pens - hence asking here.

  • I have had no problems with my Surface Pro 4 and its pen. I use it all the time. I assume you have all the Windows and firmware updates? There are often updates for the firmware, and they include updates related to the pen.

That might help, but obviously not if the terminals are corroded. I haven't heard of that.

    • Everything is updated, I must be unlucky getting a bad batch of pens!
