Tax invoice from Aliexpress or other Chinese vendors?

Hey all,

Just wondering, can invoices from Ali, banggood, GB and others be used to claim as expenses during tax returns? If not, are there any Australian vendors that supply a tax invoice out there? Specially looking for Redmi 4 pro.

Thanks.

You can use the international receipts for tax purposes.
You can either do the currency exchange at the date of purchase, or the ato publishes an average rate to use for the year.

I thought I knew everything generically bargain related until I read this comment and your reply.

.. actually just curious - what's your source?

        Rules on foreign exchange calculations:
        https://www.ato.gov.au/Rates/Foreign-exchange-rates/

The OP's initial confusion might be because foreign purchases (or local exempt) do no pay GST and can't claim it back under TRS.
But they are fine if it is a business/work related expense.
