Word of warning: I bought this (Starter pack) for $10 a few months ago and regret my purchase. The game looks good graphically but the tutorial is abysmal, there's no Aussie servers so the ping feels terrible, the game just feels generic as hell. The UI also gives me nightmares to this day.

    • What was the ping for you? I used to play D3 and stuff with 300+ ping so i reckon I can live with it if it is under that…

I played it for awhile and it's fairly constant 300+, got to around 250 with wtfast (which isn't allowed so you could be banned if found out using) but the pvp in game is heavily dependent on ping, if you have a pvp character setup but a bad ping, you're going to lose 8/10 times.

It's a good game but once you hit lvl45 you're in open pvp outside of towns and plenty of dicks that will kill you for no reason. Lots of stuff to do in game, but you need to have it on 24/7(idling/fishing/training horses/whatever) to get the most out of it.

        • Thanks mate, might not bother then… division got me hooked again…

pay for convenience ≠ pay to win, plus Whales do put the real money items on the auction house for in-game silvers; the real money to in-game silver ratio is actually pretty bad, if it is really pay to win, i would expect kaokao to increase the maximum cap. (at the moment just few hours of in-game farming is enough pay for a outfit box)

those who do not know BDO's auction house listing, basically the price of items have a fixed range, so what player manipulated market price is basically none; plus for every in-game item you sell, you will be hit with a sales tax of 35%, you can recoup a bit by getting a bonus value pack for 30day, which the Whales put on the auction house quite frequently; If you sold something that's 1000 Silver, you get 845 silver with bonus pack instead of 650 silver.

Also, players are limited to, I think 5 real money items can be placed on auction house per day account wide.

NOTE: There is no direct Player to Player trading, everything goes through the auction house, so trading is always taxed.

Plus, if you play smartly, you can generate Millions in silver from your workers and crafters everyday, just need to refill them with beer every few hours.

You will find those top geared players pretty much spend most of their time just afk fishing, processing, etc.

lol fanboys try to justify it, ur freaking playerbase even rebelled against this new system u know? the banners and shit

  • A lot of people are sharing their guest passes on reddit. You can try the game for 1 week. The download size is 40GB.

  • Is this a subscription game? Was thinking of trying it out… but nevver bothered since I had slow ass internet (500 ping on Tera before…)

    • no but its just like pretty much every other mmo on the market

Its a buy once play forever game (until server closed lol)

If you just want to try it out get the 7 days pass to try and buy the 4.99 package before its expired.

  • bought the game maybe a year ago, still no aussie servers, ping kills the game, graphics and combat are great but unenjoyable due to ping (~200 for me).

  • I played it for a month or so but much like others are pointing out it is plagued by ping issues for us aussies and that doesn't only impact PvP. Being hitbox based combat, I died countless times in PvE content purely because it was impossible to dodge attacks because by the time it showed them on my end, I had actually already been hit on the server side.
Other than that I just found it to be an AFK simulator that made you leave your computer on all the time and check back in every hour or so.

Didnt know the PvE is plagued by ping as well.

I played Blade and Soul, while the ping is not so good for PvP if played from Australia, but I enjoyed the PvE.

      • It's pretty much the same for any game that runs off NA, most of the internet traffics to NA goes through EU.

non tab targeting games are worse because the computations are sent back to the NA server to get a response.

the oceania communities arent too shabby on bdo

Those planning to join, letting you know that there is a big server infrastructure change that is coming during Nov 30 UTC maintenance period.

Existing NA servers (Uno, Orwen, Edan; 12 channels per server) will be merged into a single mega server with 36 channels, so don't worry about which server to create your toons on if you log on right now.
