My partner has a xperia z3 compact and for the past few months it has been randomly shutting down mid-task or the touch screen randomly becomes non-responsive. I've searched online and have seen some potential solutions, but haven't seen this complete problem described.
It is a grey import and out of warranty.
Has anyone had these issues? And if so what did you do to resolve them?
I'm thinking of flashing the rom and rolling back to an earlier version of Android where these problems didn't seem to affect the phone.
Any advice would be appreciated

As with any mobile issue, try a full factory reset.
Ensure everything is backed up that you require being backed up. Photos, Contacts, SMS, Music etc.
There are risks in flashing a custom ROM (albeit very little if you follow the instructions correctly) but it's always worth just trying a regular factory reset, particularly if you aren't the primary user of the handset.
