OnePlus 3T - Buy from DWI or eGlobal? (or other)?

Hi guys, just wondering if there is a general preference when it comes to these two sites. Specifically regarding warranty, shipping, returns, customer service etc.

I understand they are both Hong Kong based grey import stores who market towards Australia.
After some googling, I've read a few horror stories about both sites, but also some general praise for both sites too.

I've decided on buying the new OnePlus 3T as my next phone upgrade, and as far as I know, it won't be sold anywhere in Aus, and so far these are the only two places I can find it available.

In terms of pricing, both options work out to be almost the same ($5 difference), but I thought it'd be better to ask here first before committing to a purchase, just in case someone can offer helpful advice :)

Cheers!

I picked up an OP3 from OppoMart some months back http://www.oppomart.com/oneplus/3t.html

Mainly because they actually stocked the car charger and accessories that I also wanted (I highly recommend the car dash charging kit). As with any of these stores, if there was a warranty claim, it would end up back overseas.

Can't fault OppoMart though - received the phone and everything in a single shipment within 7 working days. Love the phone though, a very snappy update to my old OP1.

    • My OPO is still very snappy. How could it possibly get more snappy? :)

    • Good point about the accessories, which the other sites don't seem to have (at least not official ones).

The total with shipping however (to Adelaide) comes to $705, which is a fair bit more than the other stores. OppoMart does seem to have a more professional and legitimate feel though.

  • T-Dimension is okay

    • It doesn't look like they're stocking the 3T or even the 3, at least not yet.

  • DWI is eGlobal, just trading under two different names.

    • This makes a lot of sense. I thought both seemed unusually similar to each other.

  • I've been scoping out this as well… almost pulled the trigger on the 3T from DWI last night but got cold feet when I saw some of the horror stories.

I can't give you any tips on DWI vs. eGlobal, but I can tell you that the Oppomart one someone suggested above looks like the Chinese version, whereas DWI and eGlobal look like the Euro versions which you might be better off with depending on who your carrier is due to the LTE bands it has. I've also heard that maybe the Chinese version has google play disabled by default, but not sure if that's actually right (can someone let me know?) and apparently there is a way to get it back on there.

Will be very interested to see what the answer to this one is!

    • Oppomart ship the Hong Kong version which comes with Oxygen OS with all the G apps as default. The Chinese model does come pre-flashed with Oxygen in most cases, but not all. I debated the benefits/cost of getting the UK model, but the difference in price and delivery time when I made the purchase was too much and it didn't really matter with my two service providers.

I have a Telstra work sim and an iiNet sim(Optus) for my personal number and don't have any issues all over Perth and regional with data or reception.

      • Thanks for confirming - I'd forgotten there was a HK variant in the mix.

I'm with Vodafone so I think it works out better if I'm on the Euro version. Although it sounds like Band 28 really isn't all that everyone's worried about if you're doing fine on Telstra/Optus without it!

    • How can you tell which one is which? Purely from the supported LTE bands? I can't seem to find any specific model numbers on those store pages.

I will be going between Australia and Japan for work over the course of the next couple years, so I'll have to take that into account.

      • I was guessing based on the LTE bands alone. I didn't think there was any other differences to set them apart, and similarly couldn't see confirmation on their respective pages of which version they were stocking. Given that DWI had the A3003 Oneplus 3 on sale, though, that gave me some confidence they at least had access to the European stuff.

That was one of the reasons I didn't end up going with DWI yesterday, actually; I saw a comment saying someone didn't get the exact specs they'd seen online (for, to be fair, an unrelated phone) and thought I might end up paying more to get the Chinese version anyway!

        • So, as far as I can tell, there are 3 versions (according to the official OnePlus 3T specs page) which are: American, Chinese, and Europe/Asia(which includes HK and Australia), the latter most being the A3003.

If lesterfreamon is right and the Oppomart one is the HK version (which would be the a3003) then it seems like all the mentioned stores are selling the same version.

In that case, I might just pull the trigger on the DWI one. At least they confirm it on the description page that it's an a3003, and also it ends up being $30 cheaper. If they do in fact ship a different model, I'll just push for a refund. All the stores are based in HK and offer a 12 month warranty, so I don't really see a reason to buy the oppomart one over the DWI one unless you want the official accessories, which I don't need anyway.

  • Merged from OnePlus 3T users - Where did you buy your OnePlus 3T from?

    Hi all,

I have seen a few OnePlus 3T threads here, but I would like to know who have already purchased this device, from where and what's your experience with the seller?

Or should I purhcase it from OnePlus (US site) and use AusPost ShopMate service - https://shopmate.auspost.com.au? Anyone has experience with ShopMate?

    Many thanks!
    SH

    • Ordered one a couple of days ago from eGlobal.

    • Hi, I just ordered a One Plus 5 from the One Plus US website after exploring a number of options.
The two providers talked about on this page and other options. In the end I went Direct.

With the OP5 being a World Model I was more comfortable getting it from the US.
I also looked at Canada and Italy via friends and getting them to forward it on.
I was going to get it via Italy if it hadn't been a World Model.

I filled out the online contact form on the OnePlus website and said what my options were and asked a bunch of questions.
'Riley' answered my email and told me that the Italian warranty was 2yrs, but for $138 AUS extra, no.
      So..

I set up a Australia Post Shop Mate account, easy as, free, no probs. They give you a postal address in Portland.
Checked was the freight would be, $30 for 2kg so this would include my Otter Box case.
OP have a bunch of cool accessories another good idea to go direct.

Did the OnePlus account and put the Shop Mate address etc in and went shopping. Was a bit of a thing to buy the phone with the case I wanted. Make sure you click the 'add to order' button.

Already had PayPal. As Riley said Make sure you check your billing and postal address's correctly!

The phone was $710 AUS I got the 6GB/128GB jobby (why not) and the Otter Box case. The whole deal was $777.10 with freight being $30.

No need to worry about Grey Importers. Hope this helps.

  • DWI

  • Thanks.

How long did it take them to deliver it to you? I am a bit worried about returning the device for fixing if I received a dud phone.

    Thanks,
    SH

  • Clowfine, which store did you end up buying from?

  • This is why I hate discussion threads that gets merged lol.

  • no response that is ;)

  • Anyone has a Gearbest discount code for OnePlus3T

    • OnePlus 3T 4G Phablet - 6GB RAM 64GB ROM: $439.99 with Coupon "ONEP3TS"

      • I have tried that, Does not work .

      • Did anyone got 3T at 439.99 or less than 615 price ?? Any receipts that can be used for price match pls.

        • Dude that's funny. What are you price matching a grey importer?

  • Can anyone share their inputs on the phone's performance and from where did you end up buying from, and is A3003, the model for Australia?
    Thanks.

i made a account here to put a few concerns to rest after this comment i wont reply or even look at this site again hence no cares given for grama. I ordered 3 oneplus 3t's one from each of the 2 main suppliers you are all worried about and a 128gb midnight black off ebay the cheapest one there. All were a3010. I use the optus master race as my provider. I soon learned that no matter what merchant you choose they all come from one ware house in china unless you order second hand from Australia or if you are not purchasing a a3010. all phones took 19 days to find there way to me in Australia. No problems once you remove the .dec and other little added bloats and reflash to the latest oxy os. Yes its cool yes it works fine yes im running net hunter on it . Order away. (it will take 4-6 days for them to mark the item as shipped if you order over ebay).
