50% off can't be too far away.

    • Wait, so I pay $28.09 just for these two expansions? I am waiting for the complete GOTY version for $20 instead.

      • Yeah if you don't have the original you'd be silly to buy it all separately.

  • Stupid question but which one would I be wanting if my husband said he wants the "expansion" kit. Which one is supposed to be played first as I noticed on that site there's another one for $35 along with these two.

Also do you receive an actual item when you order or do you download the game after receiving a code?

    • Does he have the original? There are two expansions and you can buy them separately or bundled as a season pass. If he doesn't have the original then you can get the full game of the year edition which includes everything.

      • Thanks so much. He has this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/193814

Did he get it on PC or console (XB1/PS4)?
This deal is only for the PC version of the game, you will need to buy the XB1/PS4 expansion pass at retail (JB Hifi etc)

If he has it on PC, do you know where he bought the original game from?
Was it Good Old Games (GoG), Steam or Retail?

However, to answer your original question, in release order it was Heart of Stone then Blood and Wine.
So Heart of Stone would be the first one to play.

@MajorGaz: By the looks of her link it appears he has a console version. Best idea is to grab the season pass digitally on the actual console marketplace in my opinion. I don't think the stories matter for the expansions either, but Blood and Wine is a much bigger expansion (30-40 hours compared to 10 or so).

You COULD always see how much you could sell his game for and then buy a GOTY version. You can buy it for only $37 at Ozgameshop at the moment, might be cheaper elsewhere.

Personally I'm still waiting for Blood and Wine to get cheap enough on Xbox, as I stupidly bought Heart of Stone separately on sale. I still have a bit of Skellige to explore when I finally grab it too :)

@Putnum: Good call. Getting it on the console digital store (although more expensive) is the more surefire option.

I have too many games at the moment to play, but will be getting the expansions hopefully during or post Xmas.

        • @MajorGaz:

Thanks both for your responses. He has PS4. I'll see if I can get both or just hold out for the post Xmas sales

        • @dimple: lastly dimple now that we know what platform, Blood and Wine had a special physical limited edition exclusive to PS4 which included a Gwent deck (Gwent is the in-game card game). If you have good cashflow, that item under the tree would definitely be appreciated.

        • @Putnum: thanks for the heads up. I'll look into the limited edition one you suggested. Thanks again!!

You never know, they could be a gay couple…

      • like i said… all falling away, and the dismantling keeps coming. thanks bro!

    • lol hubby rarely plays these days now that we have a kid. So I thought why not spoil him abit.

@edfoo to clarify we arent a gay couple

  • Buying the expansions adds a separate GOTY version of the game to your library, so basically you have 2 "complete" versions of the game. Not that it matters as GOG gives you DRM free copies anyway :/
