  • Are these any better than this? It looks similar and is $0.49 cheaper

    • Looks pretty much the same, i'd say better to buy from a store, you can get it quicker as well. also HS have one metal design for 14.99 as well.

They have those scales half price all the time. I bought mine 4 months ago for the same price. Everytime you go you see the same discounts over and over again.

Any good story ends with Kmart.

  • Many of these scales (which get rebranded for many different retailers) are poor for measuring small amounts (eg, if you spoon a low-mass substance into a bowl gradually, it may not register at all), and some of them drift over a few seconds (on a any weight). I've had two previously (from various retailers), both returned. So they're fine for not-too-precise measurement usually, but if you're pedantic about weight, then no.

I thought Harris Scarfe closed down 10 years ago?

  • I use one of these all the time - solid performer!

  • Are these CR2032 powered? Battery cost will quickly outweigh the cost of the scale.

  • Thanks OP, purchased the Smith & Nobel Mechanical Scale 5kg for $16.95. No outlay of batteries so best option.
