GAME sale - 2nd July

Hello - I just noticed that there's a big GAME sale on - instore only. Anyone know of good PS3 pricing. Should I dash there right now? I'm more interested in $20 or less rather than $100 games reduced to $50.

  • call up the store and ask them.

  • When's the sale till?

  • not sure - it's on their website

They had Virtua Tennis 2009 for $18 but I passed. Sega Rally $12, Juiced 2 $12, Stuntman Ignition $12, Darkness I think for $12 - I already bought all of those from previous deals. Their website says FEAR 2 for $12 which is a true bargain, but I couldn't see any of those (and I have it alredy). Singstar Volume 1 for $38 inc microphones, Abba and Queen singstar for $18 or so.

Loads of Wii and DS games and accessories. We got Wii Speak for $12, wireless sensor bar for $8, Your Shape with Camera for $38, Just Dance $28.

Loads of 360 stuff too. I'd be tempted to get a 360 only because they have cheaper games than the PS3, but nah i'll stick with the PS3 for now.

  • Games shop - Myer branch …. have bad customer service …and not honoring their advertised price!!!

I went to the Games shop in city near Myer this afternoon. I have with me a catalogue which they advertised Bioshock 2 and Uncharted 2 at $28. I ask them about the price and if they are selling it at that price. One of the sales staff pretending to ask for my catalogue for a closer inspection. When I gave it to him, he took it away and does not want to give it back. he said that the catalogue is not valid and it is not correct. I said I get the catalogue from another branch and ask him to give it back to me. He say no in a really bad attitude and call the security guard to get me out of the shop. This is totally bad way to handle a customer. Game should have honour the advertised price or at least explain nciely. However, they have used a dirty and bad tactics to steal my catalogue and not give it back so i have no proof of their advertisement. This is REALLY REALLY BAD for the reputation of Games shop. I think I will never buy anything from their shop ever again. I will tell all my friends about their bad services. I might even tell my story to the newspaper or even the Sydney Morning Herald. They have essentially tricked a customer to steal back their valid catalogue.
Hope you all beware of Games staffs in the future and their pretentious “friendliness” to you.

  • Take the guys name, call head office, complain. Newspapers have more important things to concern themselves with, such as Paris Hiltons latest gaff.

  • The Games branch in chatswood branch actually honors the deal… based on the catalogue… i think only the branch in the city are behaving badly to the customers. I do not mind if they explain nicely that the catalogue is not valid because they cannot afford to honour the price their advertised. but do not use such dirty tricks and also call security to scare customers away.

  • They might well have had a valid reason to call security, however thye should honor the offer on the basiss as to whether or not the offer is valid, not on the basis as to whether or not they can afford it.

  • The only reason they call security is because my friend was asking for the catalogue back. it does not matter if they are not honouring the price, but they have no right to take back the catalogue they way they did. So, to prevent my friend from asking more, they simply call security.

  • It does matter about honouring the price. That's the only relevant thing about your situation. How could we possibly know whether or not you friend was displaying characteristics worthy of requiring security. Presumably the rep at GAME thought he was.

I'm no lawyer, but it sounds to me like you have a clear case of theft that ought to be answered. I doubt the police would prioritise such a case, but perhaps head office may look into the issue further.

    • The police won't even listen to this case. Nothing illegal has been done so far according to the recount.

  • Theft of the brochure. It probably would be considered theft technically but obviously the police wouldn't take an interest in it.

    • Oh right yeah. No police officer in his/her right mind would come down to dispute a piece(s) of paper.

      • ive seen people chuck a wobbly over people seizing "a piece of paper" to have evidence of their grievance, whether or not this story is true, anyone that works retail knows that you dont aggravate a customer with a issue. If they dont honour the price, whats the harm in the catalogue being returned? S

  • If they took his brochure, whether it was made of paper or sprinkled with gold dust, and they failed to return it, then it was theft. That appears to be the OPs' grievance.
