How Early Can I Check in for a Jetstar Flight to HNL

Hi guys,

Lucky enough to have a trip to hawaii at the end of the year from Sydney.

I was thinking about getting some qantas club lounge passes to kick it off in style we really aren't used to, but the passes could make a nice xmas present.

Question is: how far in advance can I check in?
We have hand luggage only.

Many years ago we did the same flight, checked in 3 hours in advance and by the time we got through customs and immigration and all the crap, we had almost no time in the lounge and it certainly wasn't relaxing.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

    Just do it all as normal and save the cash for Hawaii!

    Haha that's my usual tactic. Part of me is still ozbargaining the decision - we'd have to spend at least $10 on carry on sandwiches and food (family of four). Filling up at the club saves that! Plus it's a chrissie present out of the way

    Jetstar opens their counters about 3 - 3.5 hours before a fight. But, if their counters are open for another flight, you might be able to check in that way.

    Also, Sydney airport is much faster now than a few years back.

      One word of warning… I've done hundreds of international trips, and only lost my luggage once, by checking in early. I arrived 5h before a flight and checked in bags. As the baggage handlers weren't preparing for that flight yet, my bag must have been put to one side someplace. It did turn up 28 hours later at the destination but added stress wasn't worth it. Procedures might have improved, but I'm presuming there's a risk

        Woah bad luck.
        I've got hand luggage only so no issue there.

        Wondering Now with online check-in if you can just print a boarding pass and go straight through customs whenever you'd like

    Interesting - that's what I was wondering. If we do online checkin then we can hopefully get boarding passes from another flight at their general checkin.

    I flew to england a month ago and it took a good hour to get through customs and immigration. Calls to gate are then an hour before boarding so even if you check in 3 hours in advance, you risk having only 1 hour in the lounge which is pretty crappy
